I have a ADR and haven't heard much about this. This is our home resort and we wanted to have 1 evening of relaxing.

We hear the breakfast is wonderful with the sweet potato pancakes. Unfortunately, we had our last evening dinner there last year and it was by far the worse (tied with Hollywood & Vine) meal we have ever had at Disney. We gave H&V two tries, but Boatwright's won't get a second chance. First, it was way too noisy being between the food court and the piano bar player on the other side; we waited over 45 minutes for our ADR's, although people who came after us and were walk-ups, were seated first and the CM was horribly rude; our server was terrible...asked basic questions, no smile, no nothing; and the food was not good at all. DH and I both had a steak which was not cooked (I sent mine back because I cannot eat "RED" meat--I can handle a little pink--and it came out almost the exact same way the second time; I liked the mashed potatos--DH did not and our desserts were bland.

It was ok. It was my least favorite meal of the trip last year. My DH liked it but he is not picky. I would much rather take the boat to DTD and eat somewhere there. The boat ride is so relaxing.

We went this past May--Mother's Day weekend--and enjoyed it very much.
Our server--was it Daria?--was very attentive, friendly & efficient.

We did go later in the evening. Often you can hedge the bets on decent service by having meals at 'off' times

I will say ask for the room furthest away from the bar area, it does get noisy!

We sat in the room up the stairs & near the fireplace, which was pleasant, but non descript (as is the whole dining room),
on the other hand there was no noise coming from the CS down the hall.
We had made ADRs that day & waited, perhaps, 5 minutes. We did take one of the latest ADRs available. We were pooped out from the parks & did not want to do the bus changing thing to go to our original ADR at another resort.

Our food was good, too. I had prime rib & sweet potato salad, DH had the filet.

DH liked Boatwrights better than the refurbed Captain's Grille Yacht Club. He also had the fillet here & said he preferred Boatwrights
Decor wise, for me, I much preferred CGYC. The filets were comparable, too, I thought.

Scale: 1-5, 5 being outstanding, wonderful. We'll scale for WDW & not IRL :teeth:

Boatwrights

Food: 4
Cleanliness: 4
Service: 5
Friendliness: 5, server; 4 reception
Ambience: 2
Wait time: 5
Would we go again? Yes. Not a 'destination' but would not hesitate.

We ate Breakfast there on our last trip and it was very good--
our best breakfast the whole trip.
I had the sweet potato pancakes (which could have been
shared with another person--large stack of 3 pancakes--
I ate 1-1/2 pancakes. My DH ordered the Eggs benidict
he enjoyed it so much that he wanted to eat there again
before we left for the Airport but without a ADR the wait was
very long. I suggest getting your ADRs so you don't have to wait as
long.

I cannot comment on dinner, but breakfast there is good. The sweet potato pancakes are tasty.

Sweet potatoe pancakes RULE! As does the banana french toast!!

Boatwright's was good for a solid, relaxing dinner. I did the same thing it sound like you are planning - we stayed at POR and just wanted an easy, relaxing night, so headed over for dinner.

Some of the menu items we had are gone now, so I can't testify to exact meals, but overall we only had a 10-15 minute wait. Service was pleasant and efficient, food was warm, well-cooked, and tasty, and the portions were more than adequate. If I wasn't staying at POR, I would not make Boatwright's a destination. But if you are staying at that resort, it's very convenient and will do the trick :)

Thanks everyone! I think we'll keep the dinner ADR. I want 1 night relaxing around the resort where we don't have to hop on a boat or bus.

So b/fast is busy? There is nothing "special" (like characters) and I would have thought people would be in a hurry to get to a park.

Our family liked it. I really enjoyed the breakfast there. The dinner we had (I had a pasta dish) really hit the spot. I would definitely go again.

We went there for breakfast in February and didn't have ADR's. Once we were seated immediately and the other time we had a 5 minute wait for a table. The food court was packed so we decided to eat at Boatwright's. We were in and out fairly quickly...way quicker than eating at the food court! (We were on the DxDDP so it didn't matter if we ate TS or CS) Enjoy!
