How is August?

Hi

We are visiting WDW from August 5 - August 15 this year.

What is the weather like? How are the crowds?

Thank you!

We almost have identical dates. We are going August 5-17th and staying at the Coronado Springs. Where are you staying?

August is very hot. Expect it to rain every day around 3pm or so and then it will clear up. The crowds are busy but not as busy due to many of the schools in the south are already back in school. Any more questions please feel free to ask.

August is going to be very hot and humid. Expect afternoon thunderstorms, but they usually don't last long. We usually go in August and it can be crowded, but not as bad as earlier sommer months. The time you are going is about the same time most Florida schools start back. My DD started back Aug 6th last year-on a Friday so that sometimes cuts down on some Florida people.

Thanks for your replies!

KMickey - We're staying at The Poly....I hope the crowds aren't too bad.

Can anybody compare the beginning of August crowds with Easter/Spring Break time?? Are they as bad??

Hi Frances999,
We are planning our very first trip to WDW around the same time and I am concerned about the crowds and heat also. We are going August 7 - August 15 and plan to stay at CBR.

Same here. We are going the 5th to 13th of August. My hope is that the crowd level will be down just a bit. Temperatures are not much different, but the humidity is bad. We have been in June lots of times. It was hot and humid then too, and it rained a lot-more than the typical afternoon rain showers. Hoping for better weather this trip.

rkmassa,
what resort will you be staying at?

We've been there at that time (we usually go in July). We found the crowds to be less, as most of the south is back in school. We also found the nights to be a little cooler. In fact, we had to buy sweatshirts one evening because it got too cool. Maybe it was just that year, but we found it less hot and less crowded than July. Also, check the park hours. Somewhere around the 12th-15th they start to close earlier. That is surely a signal that the crowds are lighter.

Also, remember the hurricanes last year! We were lucky to have our trip fall between two hurricanes.

Schmeck, hoping to get one more trip in on our annual pass around Aug 4-15!
