How is August?

We've been going the second or third week in July for the last couple of years. This year we're trying August 13-20 due to youngest DD's ballet committments. Spending the first 2 night at Universal and the last 5 at Disney. We know it will still be HOT, HOT, HOT :sunny: , but will the crowds be smaller at all???? The hours are a little shorter, but not by too much. (Can't go during the school year as I am a school nurse and oldest DD will be starting college in the fall.)
Would love input from anyone who goes int he middle of August - thanks in advance!

HOT! But you knew that. We find August to be slightly less crowded than June and considerably less crowded than July (we'll NEVER go in July anymore). Many schools start in the middle of August and the lines are somewhat shorter.

We were there mid-August of 2002. The crowds were slightly smaller than in July. The mornings and evenings were better in the parks, crowd wise than mid day. We learned real fast to take a break between 12 - 2 . Just remember that fast passes are your friends!! Have a magical trip.

As the other posters have said, it is busy but much better than late June, all of July, and early August. Many schools start opening on Monday, August 14th, so that should help you!

We were there last August. It was definitely HOT, but as long as we stayed hydrated, it wasn't too bad. Disney does a great job of airconditioning just about everything! The crowds were ok. We found MK was the most crowded on any given day.

We will always continue to travel in August, as I am a teacher (my mom was a teacher too, so we were trained to go to Disney in August!). Have fun & enjoy!
