How is ALAMO?

I have never rented from ALAMO before or let alone from any car company at MCO. This is our first time flying, usually we drive but we got such a great rate on airfare :cool1: that is cheaper to fly than drive. Anyway I got a rate for a midsize SUV for 7 days price total of 148.80. This seems to be the best deal I found with the excemption of National Emerled Ailse which is offering a intermediate car for the same price. Does ALAMO have really long lines and are they slow? Would anybody like to share their experiences that they have had with ALAMO? Thanks :)

We never rent from Alamo anymore - every experience with them was bad - long lines, poor service, no cars available, etc. etc. I would rather spend more money for anyone other than Alamo. JMHO

Can I ask what codes you are using and what dates you are renting for?

Sure the dates are for 9/16 to 9/22 pickup at MCO. The codes that i entered where from the entainment book. They are Rate Code J1, Coupon Code D69B, and ID Number 803291. Godd Luck withthose codes. Have you ever rented from ALAMO? The post before yours did not sound to good :guilty: . MAybe other people will post.

We've used Alamo for our last 3 trips and were very happy with their service. I do a lot of price comparisons and always seem to get the best deal from them with our Entertainment card. Our rate always includes a second driver with no additional charge.

I've used Alamo for our last 3 trips; never a problem, the cars are great, and the prices have always been much lower than anyone else.

My hunch is that the bad service/long lines are less of an issue (maybe even NOT an issue) when renting via Alamo at the WDW Car Care Center rather than at the airport? Any thoughts? Please say YES because that will make me feel better about MY upcoming reservation with them!

Entertainment Book Question...

Can anyone use the above listed code / coupon? Is there an actual coupon to provide at pickup?

Thanks...

Ditto, in every respect and regard.

Our experience with Alamo has been hit or miss. Sometimes the line is huge and sometimes the line is short. For us, the prices are great. We are always able to get an additional driver at no charge (only get that from the others if you live in the same household). The cars have been fine. Never had a problem with choice, but then again we go during value seasons. The one thing I hate is their sales pitch. Depending on the agent, they will try to push upgrades and insurance. When I check-in, I immediately say I am not interested in any upgrades (unless free :rotfl: ) or extra insurance. That usually stops them in their tracks.

One thing to keep in mind is that Alamo now offers online check-in, where you don't have to go to the counter, you can just pick a car and go. There are some restrictions, so I would check that out on their website.

Have a great trip!!

If you can avoid having to get in line at the rental counter, then I would say go for Alamo. Otherwise yo may end up waiting in a line at least an hour long. I heard a airport employee remark that Alamo always has longer lines than the other companies.

I have never used Alamo before either so I was also curious how they were. They seem to be the absolute cheapest so far and I check everyday. I tried using your codes but for some reason they didn't work or came up invalid. I did use ID 7011339 and coupon D24C and got a standard SUV from Sept 24 to Oct 2 for $195.xx. I will keep checking to see if it still goes down in the future.

I got my coupon off the website...just print and bring with you so if anyone needs one let me know. I also found coupons for National as well.

I checked with this with Alamo themselves and because I am using a coupon I am not able to use the online check in which stinks.

I will be arriving there at 8:30am so hopefully the lines won't be too long.

used alamo on our last trip & got a great rate....but...it took over an hour to wait in line to just get checked out...not fun at 10:30pm......didn't get to wdw until 1am!!! trips before, no problems.

but, at other places, alamo is fast.
hit or miss, like someone else said.

FYI - You can get the same rate as the OP ($148 for a midsize SUV) without the Entertainment codes. Use Rate Code BY, ID# 430710 and coupon code D42C. The coupon can be printed off Alamo's website.

I've used Alamo in the past and never had any awful experiences. It has been a while since I rented in the US, but I'd remember if I'd had bad experience with them.

I just re-booked our rental at MCO with Alamo for our trip in January. My approximate rate after taxes, etc. came out to around $153. Not a bad deal at all. That was with the code from the Entertainment Book and another discount which just appeared when it calculated the total.

Thank you! I just tried that and it worked....but I didn't realize a midsize SUV is smaller than a standard. So I have to go with the standard b/c we will have too much luggage that I don't think will fit in the midsize one.

Does anyone know how many suitcase can fit in the midsize? We are 4 adults

Hit or miss for us too. We've gotten them many, many times through priceline, so it's always been a good price. But 70 percent of the time, the line is insane! The other 30 percent, there's maybe just a handful of people. I figure it's the tradeoff for the good rate. The cars are fine, but they can be extremely pushy about the insurance, even to the point of trying to trick you into taking it. Just be aware of that, don't be too stress if you're in a long line, and you'll be fine.

How do you bypass the counter with online check-in? You still need to get a key right? Where would you get that?

I've had 4 terrible experiences with Alamo. One was in Orlando and the other 3 were other parts of the country. 3 times I had vehicles break down on me. I will not use Alamo ANYWHERE now.

There are restrictions on the online check-in, so keep an eye on that.

As for the keys, they would be in the car already - which they often do where there is a secure lot. You'll need to stop at the booth on your way out to show your id and credit card, so not just anyone can drive off with a car.
