How intense is Transformers?

Trying to think about what our first ride will be at USO on our upcoming trip. Was thinking of hitting transformers first. My girls are 11 and 9 but don't like really intense rides. They get scared! They do like thunder mountain, splash mountain, star tours, etc. Trying to figure out if there is anything at Disney it compares to? And how intense is it? Don't want to start the day off on a bad foot if it is really bad.

It's really an in your face experience. You wear 3D glasses and your vehicle moves through different scenarios. Lots of movement and noises and you get jostled around a lot. It's really a great ride but like I said very "in your face"

When my kids ask about the rides, I go onto youtube and show them the ride through. 9 times out of 10 they will say it doesn't look as bad as they originally thought. My kids are fine with anything except a huge roller coaster type drop.

I thought Transformers was one of the scariest rides! I loved it, but I screamed my head off. My son, on the other hand, who had just turned 6 when we were there, was laughing his head off next to me. :) I agree it might be best to YouTube it first and then let them decide.

To me transformers was a piece of cake. If your kids can do space and thunder mountain they will have no problem. I had a brain injury in my past and can not handle those rides at all. I found transformers very smooth and does not spin as much as spiderman(which I love also). The best part is, if it gets too much you can just shut your eyes.

11 and 9 year old girls at US? Definitely start with Minion Mayhem. It's funny and adorable and just enough excitement for everyone and it's right there near the entrance. Work your way up to Transformers if you're worried about how they will react. IMO, the rides in scary order from least to scariest/most thrilling:

ET
Men In Black
Minions
Simpsons
Escape from Gringotts
Transformers
Mummy (not scary but very thrilling - my DD is not a coaster fan but loved Mummy)
RRR

Don't forget woody coaster and Barney- my son loves both. I could not handle MIB- way too much spinning and the mummy was a big no go( I am a big ride wussie).

I'd start with Despicable Me/Minions. It can get long lines so it's a good one to start with for that reason too.

agree with this 100%..Lines for that never go down and even people with express pass can have waits of 20 mins at times

Was thinking of saving Minions for our second park day later in the week when it would be less busy as Harry Potter Festival would be over?

If USO has early entry next Saturday the line could be really long at opening already, no?

Seeing how you'll walk right by it, check the wait and decide then. I didn't realize you had two days planned. Woody woodpecker is a kiddy coaster that they might like. It's not a long ride, but they should be able to handle it easily since they liked BTMRR. You could do Woody Woodpecker and E.T. as warm-ups. Simpsons might also work for them. It's more intense than Woody Woodpecker but since they like Star Tours and BTMRR, I'd think it would work.

I would describe Transformers as "visually" intense. It's not physically intense like a roller coaster, but visually there is alot going on. DW and I loved it!

I have to disagree with that. Yes, it's not as physically intense as a roller coaster but it is not all visual either. I felt it was very bumpy/rough and the going backwards part made me a bit queasy. Also it was really loud and gave both DD and I a bit of a headache. We both love Spiderman though which is similar but on a less intense level, IMO...

OP - just a heads up on the Simpsons, if anyone in your party gets motion sickness, do not do Simpsons first as that could really ruin your day.

Have to agree with both your points.

We find TF slightly more aggressive than Spider-Man......certainly got rattled more this year than previous visits.......and yep, Simpsons can ruin your day!

I ask to sit in the third row for TF as I found it less jerky

I don't like being jostled on it

Yeah I felt like a rag doll on the ride. It was a lot of fun but it messed me up silly. My neck was thrashed!

Also, it was very loud!

It's similar to Spiderman as far as the movement of the ride. If they are not scared by the movie the ride content should be fine. The new Gringott's ride is probably the worst for being scary as far as how the ride moves.
