How intense is Indiana Jones?

Shocked it has such a high height restriction.
Kind of bummed my 6 year old won’t be tall enough..

How does it compare to TOT, Dinosaur and DW coasters?

It's similar to Dinosaur, but I find it much more intense than that ride. I feel like the vehicle has more exaggerated movements and it is louder and there is more sensory overload in general (more stuff is happening: fire, darkness, air canons, etc). At times, the vehicle moves so violently that you are pitched forward practically standing and dangling by the seatbelt. I have come off that ride more than once with bruises on my hips. I love it, though!

Yes Dinosaur is by far the best comparison. And I agree I think Indy moves more. Indy is now one of my favorite rides at any Disney park. But when I first started riding it, I did not like it. It was an acquired taste. I have never had any bruising, or problems of any kind. I do have occasional lower back problems. If my back was bothering me I would skip IJA. But so far that has never coincided with a DLR visit.

It is intense like Dino, but a bit more IMO. Not every child who can meet the height requirement should ride it as it is scary for little ones. One of my sons could not handle it when he was young.

All that said, IJA is just an awesome, awesome ride! ::yes::

IJA is pretty jerky in an uneven and sometimes unpredictable way. DH doesn't like me to sit on the outer seat because he gets nervous about how much I fly around. When I sit all the way back in the seat, my feet aren't firmly flat on the floor, so my arms are what do all the work to keep me steady. We've seen little kids really bounce around on this ride. As for intensity fear-wise, we love IJA; but we recently took a friend (young adult) who couldn't even make it through the queue. She said it was just too dark and creepy. So for guests who are more sensitive, keep in mind that even the queue is dark-ish and can be loud/creepy/startling.

It’s not a coaster, nor does it have the vertical drops like TOT. It’s a bumpy dark ride. There’s a lot of jerky starts and stops, and quick acceleration. Love it! One of my favorites.

It shakes and moves enough to pop my back that I always end up feeling pretty good after coming off it, but I could definitely see how it would be a painful one for others. Our 8 year old who weighs 44 lbs flies around on it so she always sits in the middle after sitting on the outer seat the first time on and she felt she was going to fly out. Didn’t stop her from going straight back into the line to ride again though! It’s one of our favorites!

This is one of my all-time favorite rides. Now that I am getting older I have to ride it a certain way or I end up with back pain. I treat it like a bucking bronco and always hold on to the metal bar in the front of the seat. I know every twist and turn so I kind of throw my body in the same direction as the turns—the times I’ve gotten hurt are when I try to stay in the center of the seat.

I rode with a friend’s 2nd grader last summer and I thought he would love it but it was just too dark and intense for him and he hated it. So it probably depends on the kid. My DD hated it until she was about 9 and now she loves it.

Definitely intense, but it is my 9yo DD's favorite ride. She first rode when she was 7.5. The front seems to be a lots less extreme than the rear seat too.

It's my favorite ride of all time!! :)
It's very jerky, bumpy, and there are sharp turns. As someone mentioned above, sitting on the end you fling around a lot. I'm pretty slim, so I get tossed around on most rides anyway, so it doesn't bother me. If you have back issues, I wouldn't do it. My mom said even though when I was 6 or 7 and made the height requirement, she had me wait until I was older to do it because she thought it would be too much. Plus I used to get scared easily of scary images. I've seen kids crying in the line because that scares them before the ride does. Be mindful inside there is that giant snake that I know a lot of people are scared of.

It’s dd6’s favorite ride! In fact, immediately after her bibbidi bobbidi boutique appointment, instead of beelining directly to the princesses at royal hall, she went on Indy! Everyone was dying over her in her full princess get up and ball gown driving that Indy jeep. It’s not scary for her for some reason except she always insists that NO ONE open their eyes at the very beginning and is always like “oh come on” when the ride inevitably continues. Just once I would love the ride to break down in that perfect moment so I could be like, “see what happens when no one looks into the eyes?!”

And it’s also my dads favorite ride. He suffers from vertigo and chronic dizziness and can’t handle any spinning rides like dumbo or the carousel, but can do Indy with no problem. Guardians was almost a day ruiner for him through- I think because there’s a lot of darkness and not being able to predict if you’re going up or down messed with him.

Can't compare to Dinosaur (didn't go to AK) or TOT/Guardians (I won't do that one) but Indiana Jones was one of my favorite rides at DL. It's like a very bumpy jeep ride and like any Disney ride, lots to look at. I made my family go it once a day when at DL...lol. We also got a FastPass for it (or MaxPass) and the wait wasn't bad at all.

I love Indy; yes it is bouncy and intense but I never find it overly so. Maybe that is because I always hold on to the little bar in front of me to keep from bouncing around too much. When I visited WDW a few years ago, Dinosaur was the ride equivalent though I believe the tech on the ride there is older than Indy. I may be mis-remembering that though. I remember thinking Dinosaur was jerkier and darker than Indy.

Indy was built first. Dinosaur is a duplicate of the same tech.

Dinosaur and Indy use the same ride vehicles and have the same type track. That said-- I absolutely hate Dinosaur and I absolutely love Indy. Indy is jerky, but I feel like Dinosaur is more jerky. Also, I feel like Dinosaur you are pretty much bouncing around in the dark- while Indy there is more to see. My DD has always liked Indy and has always hated Dinosaur too. When she was younger, she was terrified of Dinosaur, but was not scared of Indy.

I have to say, I was surprised at how dark Dinosaur is when I rode it last year. Dinosaur's ok, but the IJ theming *cannot* be beat.
Right?! I felt like most of Dinosaur was in the dark. HATE that right. As for Indy it is my favorite Disney ride!

Well my son hated Dinosaur so if I tell him it’s worse than that he won’t be sad about not being tall enough! Lol.
