My kids will be 10 and 11 for our March visit, both have started reading the HP books. My youngest does not mind dark or fast rides but HATES big drops (like Splash, which she will NEVER go on again). I have heard both of these are intense, but obviously one person's intense is not another's.... Your thoughts?

Forbidden Journey is only intense if you don't like spiders, all of the drops are virtual drops where you lean towards a movie screen while the video shows you falling.
Gringotts however short, does have one stomach-lifting 10 foot drop.

Though I'm in my 20s, I'm not a big fan of drops; especially wasn't at age 10-11. I would say that at that age, Gringotts would have been fine with me.

The forbidden journey drop isn't bad at all. You truly only get the stomach dropping feeling for like 1 second. I can't stand big drops but I would compare this to say that splash mountain is scarier than this.

Ok thank you all, that is very helpful! Splash is what, 35 feet?? I think 10 feet is what she is used to on other coasters she has done, so I think we will do it!

Let me put your mind at ease in terms of Forbidden Journey. As mentioned, the dropping feeling is simulated in front of screens. Like your daughter, I hate big, straight drops. I did Splash Mountain once about 15 years ago and I will never do it again. I have done Forbidden Journey several times and really enjoyed it.

Unfortunately, because of my aversion to drops and hearing there were some on Gringott's, I did not do that ride. But perhaps I should have tried it if the drops are smaller.

I usually do not do big drops, etc,and wind up being the "bag holder" but VOWED that I wanted to do both Gringotts and FJ this past May. I am SO HAPPY that I "faced my fears" and did both! Loved both, but I got off Gringotts as saying that was the BEST attraction ever!:thumbsup2 ENJOY!:woohoo:

My daughter had just turned 11 on our trip in May. She hates the drop on Splash, but will still ride it. She absolutely loved Forbidden Journey. She only got a little freaked out by the spider and the death eaters, but those go by so quick and then you're on to the next portion. It's a really great ride.

best ride ever made, worth a try.

i dont like big drops or going up side down.

i find screens intense until i used dyamamine tablets not i can watch the screen with no sickness or headache.

ride is not intense only feels it when u look at the screens but my opinion is its best ride ever made.
