How Important is the Narrator to You?

I've watched a lot of cp. My 2 kids have had the good fortune to perform in the choir. My son did for his 4 years of high school and now my daughter, she just finished her freshman year.
I always watch standby, 1. Because the choirs don't really get to know which show they are performing until late November 2. Because there's no way in paying for the packages
With that said there has only been one narrator that I didn't like. That was Jodi Benson, she was too over dramatic for my taste, she could've been having an off night, I don't know
Narrators that have been just fine were: Lea Salonga, Blair Underwood, Meredith Viera
Narrators I've loved: Neil Patrick Harris (he went backstage and talked to the choir kids before performing ) Gary Sinise and my absolute favorite has been Edward James Olmos, the man just has gravitas

I've seen Edward James Olmos as narrator and he was amazing. I would rearrange my park days to see him if he was performing while I was there.

We are a non Christian couple who chose to watch CP for the music. It was beautiful. Our narrator was Ashley Judd, she did a wonderful job.

Thanks for the feedback. I was curious how others thought about it. The narrator is kind of a big deal to us.

I have seen CP several times and opted to go because of who the narrator was. We really enjoyed the ones we chose.

I guess I will have to wait until packages for 2016 are released and then make a decision. I am taking my cousin to Disney. We are the same age and grew up together like sisters. I want to take her to CP as a complete surprise.
She is a singer, professionally, and I know she will really enjoy the music and the meaning of CP.

We've only seen CP a few times. Our favorite narrator was Whoppi, who really got into the whole story and music. Saw NPH last year and he was no where near as entertaining.

Yes it can make a difference to me. When I see someone who spews idiocy the rest of the year, like Whoopi, it would be distracting from the rest of the production. I saw it with America Ferrera last year and enjoyed it, I'd love to see it with NPH or Gary Sinise though timing just hasn't worked out for us.

Been a couple years since our last trip? When can you start booking the dinner packages and when do they release the list of narrators?

Dinner packages should be out soon. Kind of surprised if they aren't out already. Typically the list of narrators is much later in the year, and even then they have a few slots with "TBA" that don't seem to be filled until a few weeks out.

I've only seen the CP once, which was last year, and our narrator was Ana Gasteyer. We were originally supposed to see NPH but had to move our dates back about a week, but I loved her in her SNL days when I was very young and she put on a fantastic performance. The way she read was beautiful and you could see the happiness on her face from even far back. My boyfriend and I both went to a music-centric school where we all were required to sing in the choral ensembles, so the music was really important to us as well. I would go see her again in a heartbeat! I think if I were to hear of many stories surrounding one narrator who just wasn't that good, I would skip it, but overall the narrator wouldn't matter to me because I find the entire experience so lovely. I think if your cousin has never seen it before and is also a singer, I would go no matter the narrator! I am sure she will love it.

The one time I went to the CP, I picked my date specifically for who the narrator was. I enjoy the music of Steven Curtis Chapman and went when he was narrator. I really enjoyed the experience, even thought we barely got in and had to sit on the side of a planter for the show. We did standby, early December, on a weekend day. I'd go again, but would probably look to see who was narrating when before picking a date. I would prefer it to be someone that I know and that I think I will enjoy seeing.

I've seen it a few times. I would change my trip around for a narrator I liked more if they were going to be there during my dates. I wouldn't, however, change my entire trip to see a particular narrator. I would see the show during my trip even if the narrators didn't particularly appeal to me.

We also saw Steven Curtis Chapman! When we saw him added to the schedule, we added a second CP package.

Last year, the CP packages came out on July 5th or so. I knew before it was officially announced, as a dining CM told me a couple of days before.

I would NOT advise waiting for the narrators to be announced!!
Last year, we booked 3 CP pkgs, over a 17 day stay. We did not know 1 of the 3 narrators until just a few weeks before! And we didn't know NPH was our middle one, until late ALSO.

The packages are limited, yet in HIGH demand.
You can always book a TBA or 2, & then just cancel.

The Narrators that return every year do tend to be there on the same weekends.
I was able to predict when a particular Narrator would be there.
I booked outside of that time period,
as we did not want that Narrator.
We also booked the 3 so that I could cancel that Narrated one, & still have 2.
