How important is crowd level if leaving by 1PM?

We'd like a smaller crowd but I'm wondering how important is the crowd level if we plan on leaving by 1PM? Is it worth switching from a level 6 to a level 2 if I have to give up SDMT FP and ADR for BOG?

My husband and I are taking our 2 year old and 1 year old to WDW Dec 4-6. Current plan is to do MVMCP on Friday 4PM-10PM, MK on Sat 9AM-1PM and AK on Sunday 9AM-1PM. It finally occurred to me today that it might be better to do MK on Sun and AK on Sat. Crowd level at MK is estimated to be a 6 on Sat and 2 on Sun (due to MVMCP). The biggest issue is that we would lose our ADR for BOG and FP for SDMT as none are currently available Sun. Any insight on how much the crowd level would impact our park hours would be appreciated.

Thanks so much!

I would almost always choose a 2 over a 6. But I don't care about one attraction, I've had FP for the mine train and still have missed it. For me if something better comes up, we roll with it.

I think you need to weigh BOG and one attraction against a big crowd increase

If you get there at rope drop you'll have a ton done by 11 before it gets too crazy. With your FP+ in hand I think you'll be fine. Of course the lower day is the better option but based on your ADR and FP already set up I'd stick with it.

I wouldn't be scared off by a 6 day if you are getting to the park early for your ADR and leaving by 1 pm.

The height of the crowds won't be there that early and you will be leaving the park as the crowds start to build.

If it were me I would keep the BOG ADR and FP for 7DMT.

I think it depends on what else you have planned to do at MK between 11 and 1 (crowds will be very large by then). I assume the BOG ADR will be part of that time? And if you have two FP+ for the 11-1 time frame (and presumably one FP+ earlier than that), you should be in pretty good shape on Saturday. You can do quite a bit between 9 and 10 am, and even the 10 am hour shouldn't be terrible, especially for attractions with high capacity like the Carousel and Mickey's PhilHarmagic.

Are you planning on getting there at rope drop? If so I would say leave it alone, you'll be fine if you plan on leaving before the biggest crowds hit.

We plan on being there at rope drop. SDMT at 9:30am and Peter Pan at 10:40. BOG ADR is at 11:35am. Our third FP is for Splash Mtn late that evening.

With a 2 and 1 year old you will mostly want to do Fantasyland and will get tons done in the first couple hours at the park. We go in August and rope drop is an amazing advantage of you can get up that early after doing the MVMCP.

Also- it might be too cold to ride Splash at night. You could get pretty wet. Something to think about.

You are going to have to decide this for yourself while you are there. Crowds aren't always doing the same thing and it could be a very crowded day of people not in your way. You'll know while standing there if your in the wrong place. You'll also be able to get an update via the app on how crowded the other parks are also just by looking at wait times to make an informed choice on what to do. We've seen trips where rope drop was horrible and afternoons were ghost towns and vice versa. Have a plan A ready and if you'll know if plan b is needed when there.

If your worried about weather, being cold at night and wet. Bring a change of clothes, coats, etc and put them in the lockers at the front of the park. If you don't need them, you didn't carry them around. If you do need them, they are safely in the park and easy to get too.

The crowd level can be a big factor after about 10am.... But...

I wouldn't change your plans.

First off -- crowd predictions are far from perfect. You could find the crowds to be pretty different than the prediction.

Second, a good plan is more important than the crowd level. Visit "6" with a plan, and you'll do far better than someone visiting a "2" without a plan. The Mine Coaster will have horrible lines, whether 2 or 6. The mountains may be walk on before 9:30, at any crowd level below a 7, and will never be walk on at noon, except maybe in a 1 crowd level.

Third, your FPs and ADR will already help you get through the day. On a 6 day, you already have both those booked. Go on a 2 day without having those things booked, you won't be able to do them without huge lines.

We did MK on a Saturday once- we arrived at rope drop and left at 1. It was totally fine. We walked on rides until about 10:30, then did our fast passes and lunch.

I would keep your plans at MK. And if you're worried about being cold/wet because of Splash Mountain, I don't suggest bringing a change of clothes and getting a locker. Much better to just bring along a .99¢ poncho to throw on, fits in a pocket, and you do not have to walk all the way back to the locker.
