How important are the recommended park days (easyWDW)

We are taking a 10 day trip in October, and a couple of the days I had picked are in the red - is it strongly recommended to change those days around (want to know before I pick ADRs in 2 weeks)

We will likely not be able to make rope drop or utilize EMH. Will there be a drastic difference between, say, the first green park and the third green park, or the 2nd green park and 1st red park? KWIM?

I loved the schedule I had planned for the variation of date nights / family days, but will definitely switch it around if recommended for the "green days"

Thanks!

I think it depends on lots of factors. . .sometimes you want to go to the park for the same reason everyone else does (hence why it's not rec.). We found if we were going multiple days to the same park I didn't mind going on one of the not rec. days as long we were going back another day that was possibly less crowded. For example, we went to MK on a Mon. when it wasn't really rec. because it was the start of the trip and we wanted to do it earlier in the week (like others). . .it was busy that day but we knew we were returning on Wed. on the most rec. day. . .however that day poured rain so I wasn't sure if it was way less crowded in part because of the rain over being the most rec. day of the week to go.

I agree. I haven't used that particular calendar, but I would consider playing with your plan to see if you can still keep the balance you want while avoiding non-recommended parks. That being said, if you have your heart on doing something on a specific day (ex. I want MK to be my last park, always) than keep that in the schedule.

Have you read the details on what each park is r is not recommended for a day? That may shed some light for you.

Touring plans will tell you the TIME of day you go to a particular ride is more important than the park you visit on a particular day. I do always go to the parks with lower crowd levels, however. I like to plan but not down to the time of day I go to a certain ride, except a couple of the big draws.

It hasn't been posted for October yet on Easy WDW, unless I'm missing it somewhere. I have read them for other months, tho. It seems that parks with EMH are not usually recommended, and no Epcot weekends for F&W.

Doing a park on a non recommended day is do able just go into it with your expectations set accordingly. Follow your gut and don't forget to bring your patience and you'll do fine.

Hard to understand how you are missing it, since it is literally at the top of the page.

Then be prepared to come back here to the Dis afterward and complain about how busy it was, even if crowds were moderate during your stay.

He hasn't yet posted his day by day explanantion of why each park is recommended or not. (Like this September one.)

Thank you for clarifying with the link! :thumbsup2
And thanks all for the replies, I think I'll try for the recommended days, our kids are littler and are highly prone to meltdowns, so I'm hesitant to be sure we'll be at any particular ride at any particular time of day.

I have a touring plans subscription and follow easywdw but from pass experiences some of the information they provide I just don't find to be accurate. They never recommend the park that has the extra magic hours but I have these parks to be the best during the morning EMH. If staying onsite make rope drop during morning EMH and you will accomplish so much! That is for any park during anytime of the year. I guess they're looking at it from the point of view of offsite guests.

The reason Josh (the guy who writes easyWDW) doesn't recommend parks on their EMH days it that he feels that resort guests view them as Disney's way of telling them which park they should visit on which day, and that therefore they're more crowded on those days. It's definitely true though that if you're not staying on property (or are but not getting up early enough to take advantage of morning EMH) that you shouldn't visit the EMH park.

I agree, but if you're a onsite rope dropper there is no better time to visit the parks.

Absolutely! In my experience, many families (including my parents...) would plan to go to EMH, and choose that park for the day. But when push comes to shove they didn't get to the park before 10/10:30. EMH are very quite but unless I can/want to hop away at 11, I pick rope drop at a non-EMH park. It also depends on how early is too early for your family.
