How important are future resorts to you?

I know about the restrictions at Riviera, and maybe its just my account but have DVC made the restrictions less strict lately?

IIRC in the past I wasn't able to book Riviera using my resale points, not even if the resale points was mixed with direct on the same membership. Now I can easily use my resale points (from 2023 and 2024) at Riviera. However its only doable on my membership which also holds my direct points.

Is anyone else experiencing the same? - Anyone have Riviera resale points mixed with resale points from other resorts? Are you able to book any resort using those points?

If this is new way going forward, I look forward to use my resale points at all the future restricted or non restricted resorts.

Nothing has been announced. I would say it's likely a bug. Instead of tracking if points are eligible or not, someone coded to check if the member is eligible.

There is no reason for DVCMC to do this. Almost certainly a bug.

It has been speculated (and actually Riviera POS has wording for this) that DVC might give members the possibility to "wash" dirty resale points and one of the options is: buy X new direct points, qualify Y resale points. But that would happen with much fanfare, if this is the reason, than it's been pushed live by mistake in advance of an announcement. That said, I think it's 99% a bug. Like holding points being able to replace standard points at 60 days on existing reservations.

Agreed with all of that. Washing does make sense---and there is precedent. For example, Diamond (now a Hilton brand) allows resale points to be brought back into The Club but requires an equivalent developer purchase. Marriott charges a per-point fee to resale buyers.

But it's not going to Just Happen. And my money says it will not be "A blue-card member can have as many resale points as they want" as that just invites the large-scale renters to play in the sandbox.

(And yeah, I can't figure out why they haven't closed the Holding loophole yet.)

That’s even more odd.
I’ve booked a tower studio at RIV using my Beach club points, was given the option to also use AKV or any of my other resale points.

I need to correct my previous statement.

Just tried to book another riviera reservation and besides my direct points I can use some of my resale points but not all. However non of my resale points should qualify especially not my beach club points which I can use.

I wonder if there’s a glitch in the matrix for you (didn’t you manage to purchase the MMB as an international member or was that someone else?) or whether there’s anyone else who can use resale at RIV?! I only have direct points in one membership so can’t test it.

Yes I have managed to make two bookings now.

I also managed to purchase the MMB as an international member.

Could be that there are some sort of error with my account since I can do both.

I wouldn’t complain about that particular error! See what else you can do while you’re at it… 11 month priory at VGC with your SSR points??
