I know this is not my 1st thread about the show, and it IS only a show, but it is really starting to bug me, the timeline is running out. The poor kids. Dear Ole dad sits them down to tell them how he met their mother 25 years ago. (BTW, in 2005, now it is 2006 so they can't possibly have their 25th anniversary in 2005 now, making my point about the timeline).

I know my dad would sit us down to tell us things, and it would end up being a 3 hour ordeal, but these poor kids! TELL US ALREADY. Instead, they get to hear story after story about all the women dad met who were NOT mom. Yeah, every kid likes to hear about that. Robin was ruled out as mom in the 1st episode, so how do these kids feel that dad is telling them how much he loved "aunt" Robin. I am sure mom will be just like Victoria, if Victoria is not mom, she will always be 2nd wheel to Robin.

Please, to the creators of this show, it is a great, funny sitcom. If you want it to last, without frustrating the viewer's, you will tell us who mom is by the season finale, THEN, next season, you will drop the kids and the narration, and just put on a funny sitcom. We really don't care where Ted ends up in 25 years.

My wife is giving them until the season finale.

We missed the most recent episode on the 10th. Can anybody give me a rundown on what happened. Did we learn anything or did anything else significant happen?

It has taken me a while to warm up to this show. But I am enjoying it more every week.

The story lines are pretty good, and sometimes I forget that we are trying to figure out who mom is.

Maybe the kids are twins carried by a surrogate mother / egg donor, and he never "meets" the mother. :teeth:

I read an article with Allyson Hannigan that said the characters are based on the creators and the creator that Ted is based on is still single. She said until he finds someone Ted will be single. I just don't see how that can be true because like was said there is a timeline. I actually don't think they even needed the gimmick of Ted speaking to his kids, I like the show for the supporting characters not Ted anyway.

Highlight to read just in case people get pissy about spoiling it:

The theme is that nothing good happens after 2am. Ted got the call from Robin to come over at the end of the last new episode. This one basically begins with that and then flashbacks to Robins day being very bad (people harping on her being single with lots of dogs). Ted against better judgement goes over there to make juice (the excuse she uses to get him over there). Victoria pops up as different characters (like a cabbie) questioning him about it all. He calls the group of friends and Lilly spills the beans that Robin likes him. He gets there tells Robin that Victoria broke up with him (not true) and then they make out. They are then progressing towards the bedroom when he feels some pain of guilt and takes a phone in to the bathroom to break up with Vicoria but while in there Robin picks up his phone and it is Victoria so she finds out Ted lied and she basically sends him out. Ted then calls and actually breaks up with Victoria. The side story is that the other three are still at the karoke bar and Barney says Legendary things happen after 2am and they team up with a Korean Elvis which ends up saying something that makes Lilly kick him in the nads....thus proving that something Legnedary can happen after 2am....ie "Remember that time Lilly kicked Korean Elvis in the nads"

Thanks jgmklmhem for the description. I remembered the cliff hanger ending from the prior week and was really bummed we missed the next part.

Now about the OT....I guess I really don't care. I like the show and the characters especially Barney (we've all had a friend like Barney at some point in our lives). The show has the hook of finding out about mom at some point but it isn't what keeps bringing my wife and I back. Heck I want to know what Barney actually does more than who the mom is at this point.

ITA.

So far, in our opinion, the show has only had one so-so episode. The rest have been the best comedy show on television. As long as that keeps that up I don't care if we never know the mother's identity till the last epsiode, even if it takes seven seasons. If things go sour we'll just check in for the finale like we have other comedies we gave up on.

I love the show, and frankly, if we don't find out who the wife is until the eventual series finale that would be fine for both DH and myself. I agree that practically every episode they do is funnier than the last. As long as its good TV, I'm content to just watch the journey that Ted and his friends have.

ditto!! DH and I LOVE this show. I'm honestly hoping that Robin is the mom and he's just messing with the kids. I really like her...although I like Victoria too. Barney is a hoot!! Allison Hannigan plays the part of Lily great! She's basically being herself...at least I think so. DH has the hots for her.

DH and I both love this show as well. Each day we are quoting something that Barney has said. "legendary....havvvvvvve you met Ted?.....slutty pumpkin....."

My DH and I are also fans of this show. Marshall is my DH's fav. I like Lily. We both love Barney (still kills me that it's Doogie Howser). I don't care if we never find out who the mother is. We'll keep watching anyway... :thumbsup2

I love this show! And I also find myself quoting the show daily. "Legendary!", "Lemon Law....its gonna be a thing" and now......."Nothing good happens after 2am." Words to live by. I do realize that they will be needing to find "mom" soon to go with the time line. But I am really enjoying the show as it is. As long as the keep Barney the same, Ill keep watching.
