How I chose which resort-It was the sinks!

For our Dec. trip, I knew we were going to split our stay bec. of my personal goal, which DH has to live with, of staying at all WDW resorts.

I've always been in love with the mansions at POR so of course that's was choice #1. Another goal was to see Bob Jackson too.

But, when I looked at the pictures, I saw that POR had 2 pedestal sinks and a small shelf for toiletries. Then I found out that it's also the overflow resort for POP Warner. So, I booked one night at POR.

Then, we're moving to CBR because...OF THEIR SINKS which have lots of room.

Anyone else get THIS specific when choosing resorts? :upsidedow

P.S. We're also staying at Swan which has 2 sinks :thumbsup2 and then CR with the modern sinks.:cutie:

:rotfl: Well thats a new way of deciding on a resort :)!

I didn't care for the CR sinks. They didn't drain completely. It's like there is not a deep enough slope for the water to run into the drain and some water puddles across the front and in the front corners. I had to wipe the sink dry most times after use.

You're not alone - this is one of the many reasons why CBR will always be my favorite moderate! Love those 2 sinks, and all the counter space! :thumbsup2

I kept dropping my make-up in the sink when we stayed at POFQ, and one of the reasons I would never consider CSR is because I believe they only have 1 sink (the theming also doesn't interest me).

So, sink snobs unite! :rotfl:

That is one of many reasons why we are thinking CBR for the next trip, I think sinks are a great reason!!

I have a picture of the sinks below if anyone is interested.
And YES the sinks are great!

...I am honored to be crowned a "SINK SNOB" :snooty:

Can I also borrow Atchley's tag too, because if you ask DH, he most definitely would agree that I am 100% certifiable Disney Planaholic!!!

I love the sinks at CBR too! They are the only game in town in that area as far as the mods are concerned. When you have multiple people getting ready, all at the same time, you need every square inch you can get! Being able to store stuff underneath is very nice as well. And frankly, the CBR rooms in general are just set up nicely and since they are the largest mod rooms, they have that little bit of extra space that can make a big difference.

I also like to book a resort with 2 sinks. POR has two and the shelf extends all the way across both sinks and holds lots of toiletries. That shelf holds more than the two sinks I get at the Deluxe resorts. I am staying at BCV in a studio in Nov. and am disappointed that there is only one sink. I only booked it because it is my son's DVC and he was unable to go this year.

Another Sink Snob here!
I thought about stating at one of the PO resorts but then I saw the 2 pedestal sinks and I knew I'd be back at my first resort love - CBR.

OK I didnt book because of sinks - but I did book CSR because they have central air. (one of the deciding factors)

We hated the sinks at CR. They looked cool but like you said did not drain well at all!:confused3

This is one of the reasons we chose against the CR and went with GF. Maybe next time we will try CSR.

YES!! Thank you - that was a pet peeve of mine when we stayed in POR as well...there was a tiny shelf for toiletries, and hubby and I were forever knocking stuff off the shelf into the sinks. Hooray - Im staying at CBR for the first time and can't wait to have a REAL SINK. :snooty: This isnt being snooty! The poly was 'standard' accomodations when the park first opened...if you look at the size and layout of those rooms they wer e a cut above the 'standard' rooms of today ie. moderates. Its clear Disney determined - for the money - when it comes to accomodations anyways - that people dont notice the little details so much. But they are wrong!

I love this thread, it's cracking me up!! I'm not laughing AT you, I'm laughing because now I know there are other people out there who notice and take into account small things, like I do. LOL

I just stayed at POR for the first time in May and having no counterspace was a tad bit inconvenient. So what I did was, after I finished using the sink and then needed to use my curling iron, brush, make-up, etc, I'd put a clean towel right into the sink and then set my make-up case on it, inside the sink. I needed room to perch the curling iron on the shelf, so there was not much room left over. That shelf is not very deep!

I'm not sure I'd choose a resort solely based on counter/sink space, but I can definitely understand why someone would. ::yes:: CBR is already a great resort so having the extra counter space is a plus! :thumbsup2
