How Hot Is It Really?

What does "not crowded"? really means? Is it very different from May crowds? Even with the free DDP?

As Nhpooh said, the most I waited on something was 20mins. But I did get to the parks at openning, and took a break in the afternoon.

Below is a picture I took at Small World because there was no line.

Even though everything was not like this, it was not a major pain to wait to get on anything.

We've gone in January, and October. Both were comfortable temps. We are going August 25. I'm not looking forward to the humidity/heat.

We don't go to the parks untill 12-ish. We stay at our resort and swim, and then stay at the parks late when its cooler. It seems to work for us since we are knight owls anyway. And with extra magic hours we don't waste any vacation hours.

Going in the last week of Sept last year ... my wife and I agreed that it is just a different kind of park in the heat ... you have to approach your day differently. The great news is that the pools are great.

But I am a wimp for the heat and crowds ... so we are trying to go in the cooler months. Plus I noticed that kids do not hold up nearly as well in the heat ... by 11 AM ... saw soooo many kids having a meltdown ... probably from not drinking enough and being tired due to the heat.

Yeah, the temperature outside this Canadian's igloo right now is a chilly 113 degrees (with the humidity)! I'm thinking I might need to bring a sweater to Orlando to wear until I get used to the cooler weather down there!

Preachin' to the choir, I'm not that far south of you...plus, I had a buddy in Guelph last week sweating like mad, and another buddy is in eastern Ontario on a lake soaking up the sun. His igloo melted to make the lake, I believe.

Well, I know the actual temperature was 90 something, but I only ever listen to the part in the weather report where they tell you what temperature the humidity makes it feel like. What's the point in knowing what it would feel like without humidity? It's not like I can remove it, although some days you do feel like you could cut through it, the air's so thick! (But I'm in Windsor, Ontario so that might actually be pollution, not humidity )

My poor igloo melted yesterday and all we were left with was a swimming pond. Seriously though. The weather in Ontario where I live. Reached a high of 114degrees with the humidity. We call it a dry heat when there is no humidity at all. It is just an expression. So basically what you all are telling me is that in September WDW still experiences humidity. So are these temperatures you've been quoting include the humidity or not? If it is 84 degrees does that include the humidity or does it feel more like 90 degrees? Just want to clarify.

Just do the geographic location of Orlando, the humidity is almost allways a factor. If see most forecasts anymore include a "REAL FEEL" Temp as well as the actual temp.

Humidity is the enemy of the human body cooling system, we sweat to cool ourselves. Evaporation of liquid on the skin causes a cooling effect. In high humidity equals little to no evaporation of sweat, hence no cooling effect.

The principle of the a "DRY HEAT" out west is the same basic principle. The dry, less humid air actually causes faster evapotation of sweat, thus actually making our bodies more efficent to cool itself.

The body also changes inside to adjust to heat and humidity, the blood vessels change size to help the body regulate it's internal temp. These two factors are why people up in the north sweat like crazy and feel overheated while a person from the South doesn't.

Believe it or not your your body will adjust, I noticed a big difference in my own body after 48 to 72 hours.

The Weather Underground website (wunderground.com) shows an average temperature for the last week of Aug. of around 90 degrees. That is not including humidity which will be pretty high too. Imagine weather like we had yesterday, but for 1 week straight. However, you will be in WDW so it makes it much, much more manageable for some reason
