how hot in august?

august is hot, and sticky.. and i have seen someone pass out in a line.. but i still find it okay.. just pace yourself! the only downside i see to august is that the waterparks are almost always full shortly after opening!

It is so hot, I have vowed never to go in the summer again....I get way too cranky in the heat!

We have been going in the summer for the last several years and it can be miserable. We take advantage of the morning hours. We are at the gates waiting for the park to open. We would stay until mid-day and then go back to the resort for the kids naps or to lounge in the pool. We normally stay at VWL so we would get the marina pass and take a pontoon boat out for a couple hours...basically, we would take it easy during the "hottest" part of the day. When it started to "cool down" (if you could call it that :rotfl2:) we would head back out and enjoy the evening.

Just wondering how crowded the pools get during the hottest times of the day? The popular suggestion seems to be to go back to your resort and hang out by the pool (which sounds wonderful) during the early afternoon. Just wondering how this affects the resort pool crowd levels?

I think that depends on the resort and the general crowd levels at Disney. Last year we were there the week immediately after Labor Day, reportedly one of the slowest weeks at Disney all year. We stayed at the Coronado Springs Resort and never saw many people at the pool... even during the hottest part of the day. We also spent some time with friends at the Wilderness Lodge pool. Slightly more people but still a lot of room to enjoy yourself in or around the pool... no trouble getting lounge chairs or finding space for a family or group.

I would expect that during July or early August, which can reportedly get very busy at Disney in general, there would be more people at the pools looking for a break from the heat. Of course, I have not been during those times so someone else would have to weigh in.

We were at POR last August and the pools were not that crowded, at POR or at POFQ

I am reminded of 2 Augusts ago. We were at AK and my family stood in line waiting for Lion King to open while I went for icecream. I walked to the stand, got two cones and before I made it back they had almost completely melted. That's hot!!

As for pool crowds mid day, remember that at the world, technically there are no "weekends" so guests are coming and going all of the time. So many people at the pool are probably just arriving or getting ready to check out.
Also some families who book for long weeks spend more time at the hotels.

Frankly, the heat doesn't bother me knowing that we will have minimal wait times and lighter crowds. There are enough air conditioned areas to duck into between attractions.
WF:banana:

It will be extremely hot then. We were there last sep and I was suprised how hot it was.
