How high is the drop on Pirates of Caribbean ride?

The drop on the WDW PoTC was not changed during the revamp. They have it specifically designed to allow a fun ride down the hill with no splash. There would have been no purpose in changing the drop.

The drop is 14 feet and according to a tour guide on the KTTK tour, the drop actually takes you under the Walt Disney World Railroad. She mentioned that sometime you can hear the train whistle as it pulls into the Splash Mt station.

That's correct, you get a good idea from this picture below. (Ignore the blue print portion.) This graphic was used to compare DL and WDW PoTC show buildings in threads long past.

Yup....just took the tour on Friday and our guide said it is a 14 foot drop. Just enough to get you under the train tracks and into the other "show" building outside the park.

I think the whole beginning part of the ride is a lot darker and "eerier" now since the revamp....maybe that is why some people think the drop seems longer now.

There is something exciting to that drop...I love it!

I am just about the biggest "ride weenie" in the world, and although I was startled by the drop the first time that I did PotC, it has never prevented me from riding it again and again on future visits. It doesn't bother me a bit.

I can't believe the photo that is shown above (Well, I DO believe, but I it is HARD for me to believe - YOU know...) I would have estimated the drop at three or four feet.
