How high do you think gas prices will go?

I stopped at BJ’s today to get gas and was shocked at how many cars there were. They have like 15 pumps and each one was at least three cars deep. By the time I left, cars were lined up down the road. It kinda shocked me a bit. I paid $3.22 and then noticed every other station was $3.45 which explained why everyone was at BJs.

What are prices like by you and how high do we think they will actually go? I miss paying $1.82 from two years ago.

For our area, I’m getting use to seeing $3.96 and over $4. So $4.50 to $5 won’t be too far off. I already told DH when my car goes, I’m not getting another.

I’m in the Toronto area.. i gassed up today at $1.47 point 9 a litre.. there are 3.79 liters in a gallon.. so the price per gallon here today averaged $5.61 CDN or $4.53 US at today’s exchange rate.

Our gas price watchdog says to expect the price to continue to go up over the next week or two.

I'm near Tampa, it's around $3.15 at Sam's Club and Costco and around $3.30 elsewhere. I think the national average will get to just above $4.

Yes it’s a double edged sword. When oil is up the CAD is up. Helps me because I send a good bit of CAD to the US every month. But gas costs more.

$4.29 a gallon at the least expensive non-membership gas station (ARCO).

$4.15 a gallon at Costco.

Who knows long term? Should be dropping given people are driving less. The car we bought 15 months ago just turned 5,000 miles. Car we bought over 3 years ago has 12,000 miles on it. We retired three months ago so no work commute anymore, so I expect driving to drop a lot. Good thing is, the car we bought last year has gotten up to 55 mpg on the freeway.

Here in Los Angeles the cheapest I'm seeing is $3.99 at Cosco. But my nearby Mobil is $5.09 and Arco is $4.41

Over what time period? A week or so, a few months, a year or two, 5 years?

I miss paying <$1/gallon from the late 80s.
Those were outrageous prices. I miss my 28 cents for regular and 30 cents for ethyl in the early 60's. The Arab-Israeli war of '73 put a permanent end to those type of prices.

You can see the 36% one year spike going from '73 to '74.

By me it’s the same as you - terrible!:headache:
DD18 always pays for her own gas, but pretty soon we’re gonna have to help her.
How high do I think it will go? I’m guessing around $4 a gallon:headache:

I just paid $4.19 at an independent station that is always lower than the name brands around here (San Francisco Bay Area). The average seems to be around $4.39 for regular. I'm starting to see prices over $5.00 for premium.

I think I paid around $4.49 for the lowest grade unleaded with credit/debit this afternoon. The highest I've seen lately is a station on my way to work that's right off the freeway - $5.21 for supreme purchased on credit/debit.

They will probably hit $5.00 per gallon before the the 2022 mid term elections.

I just priced my Thanksgiving trip with two vehicles - about $90 return for the hybrid and $230 for the conversion van. If prices stay where they are right now.
