How heavy is your turkey?

Fourteen pounds and it was free! My employer rewards everyone with a free turkey for Thanksgiving. :thumbsup2

I found a fresh 12.12 pound gobbler today. It's just for the four of us, but we love our leftovers! The neighbor kids also like to come over the weekend after for turkey and spinach soup.

Actually haven't gotten mine yet... :scared1: but I plan on getting the biggest one I can....25-26lbs. It will just be 6 of us but the turkey soup gets started before dishes get done. We LOVE the turkey!!!

We will be cooking 2 turkeys this year - a 12.5 one that will be deep fried, and an 18.5 pound one to be roasted.

We love leftovers and will be serving 7 adults and 3 kids.

Sadly, no turkey this year- DH and DD voted for ham. The ham is about 6lbs for the 3 of us (there will be lots of leftovers!).

DD and her best friend decided that they needed to "save the turkeys" this year- they are handing out little flyers around the neighborhood. I guess they don't mind pigs getting the axe :teeth: .

I just bought (2) 6.5 lb breasts today. They are frozen. How long to defrost them? I will have between 20-25 people coming. My Aunt is also bringing a ham. popcorn:: Can't wait!!

18 pounds for 4 people. I wanted to make sure I had lots of leftovers! :teeth:

No turkey here. It will just be DD and I. My sister, the CM, will be working at DTD. We have a very small family. The rest live across the country. DD and I usually catch a movie. Sometimes we eat at a restaurant. Other times, we just get treats at the movie. Not real exciting, but that is DD's preference. I really am a pretty good cook and have done turkey before for Thanksgiving, but it just seems a waste with just the two of us.

hmmm...I'm having 22 people here and haven't bought my turkey yet. I usually get the largest fozen bird I can find (my Dad always said that frozen turkeys actually get frozen quicker than a fresh turkey gets to your table! I'll just go with that theory!) I think I better also get a turkey breast so that we have enough to go around. We don't usually have much left over!

We picked up a 23lb one last night and will also have a ham for 13 of us.

5 pounds! Just me and DH this year and I'm going to enjoy every moment of it!! We're eating around one and going to see Bond at four! :thumbsup2

19.5 for 5! I love to make turkey salad after, so I like a lot of left overs!

Don't laugh. I have a 30 lb. turkey that I cook in the oven, DH has a 22 lb. one that he cooks on the grill. We'll have 16 sitting down to dinner, like to send home (and keep) leftovers, and ds 1 will be home from law school (and wanting leftovers to take back) and ds 2 will be home from college. That makes for lots of nibbling. Plus I shop all day Black Friday so they fend for themselves with the leftovers.

This is besides all the trimmings, plus appetizers and stuffed shells. We have to wait about 2 hours before anyone can even begin to think of dessert!

Going to get mine today. I'll be doing all of my supermarket Thanksgiving shopping today. Tuesday, I'll be going to Delicious Orchards (a great vegetable market in NJ) for all the veggies and treats.

Oh, I'll be picking up an 18 lb. turkey plus a ham.

Just over 19 lbs. There will be 11 people at our house this year, so probably just enough leftovers for turkey sandwiches the next day :)
