How have RD waits been for ROTR?

Planning on buying Genie+ but trying to avoid buying individual lightning lane pass for ROTR.

We will be at HS on Friday at 8:00am. Staying on site so will have early entry at 8:30. What kind of wait am I looking at if we RD it?

Riding it in the evening isn't an option for us since we will be leaving park around 5-6.

RD waits posted at 60 minutes this morning for EE - grew to 120 at official open (based on WDW posted times). ROTR is the challenge for me as well. I don't mind buying LL but I'm offsite so passes are almost gone by the time I can buy for the last 2 days (and we will be park hopping - so this may be a stand by wait for us).

We went yesterday. We are staying on-site so official park opening time is 8:30. We arrived at 7:30 and they immediately let us into the park and we joined the line for ROTR.

We would've been through the line super quickly, but the ride broke down. It seems to break down ALL the time. Almost every time I checked the app yesterday, it was either a 120 minute, or it was broken down. It was probably close to 9 before we got off the ride, but we literally just stood there for a solid hour. If you wait to get there until 8:30, the wait will already be at least 90 minutes.

I would definitely recommend Genie+ for HS.

I have been following this rise ride for the past week and wait times usually drop down to 35 minutes between 5 and 6:30 PM After 6:30 PM, it has gone up to 45-50 minutes. Just FYI. So if the wait is over 60 minutes in the morning, wait until dinner time. That is if you don't purchase the Lightening Lane. Hope that helps some folks. Touring Plans is great and you can monitor the POSTED and ACTUAL wait times through the day. Also, it has charts where you can see the trends.

I watched the posted times on the app all day yesterday just in case we decided to go on the ride again. I was there until almost 8 and I never saw it drop below 115 minutes. Maybe that wasn't the actual wait time, but with how many times that ride broke down yesterday I would not have risked it! Yikes.

Yes. I noticed that yesterday as well. That was because of the ride breaking down and than them bypassing the intro of the ride as well.

Thanks everyone. This is persuading me to buy LL for ROTR since this is a short trip and I don't want to waste any time. We get in at 11pm the night before so 8am is the earliest I see us getting there. We can afford it fortunately but $60 for one ride is killing me!
