Have they mostly been taking off, taking off on time or does that depend on the destination, etc?

We are often on a late afternoon/early evening flight home, which tend to have more delays than early flights. Have also been delayed by storms, not much you can do about that. One American flight as we were boarding, the pilot got on the intercom and said something like - everyone get seated quickly as there is bad weather closing in and if it gets much closer we won't be able to take off!

That's almost impossible to answer these days! Weather in Orlando, weather at your destination, weather around the country (depending where your plane is coming from), mechanical issues - all can throw a monkey wrench into the mix at an airport as busy as Orlando. There are the same delay risks at MCO as you might find at Atlanta, Chicago, JFK, etc. We've always found it better to fly out in the morning or at least early afternoon from MCO, before the delays can accumulate.

Exactly! Weather is the biggest influencer at MCO.

Biggest problem @ MCO tends to be the large crowds of families or infrequent travelers checking in for departuare. Generally a LOT of congestion as people try to figure where they should be going. Many seems like inexperienced travelers and aren't familiar with the procedures which also tends to slow down the TSA area.

MCO is the reason I got Pre and the reason I'll never be without it again. I usually leave MCO at 0700 and the lines even at 0530 are horrendous.
