How has the "refresh" method been working on LL?

what is the refresh method?
It used to work pretty well with Fastpass. Fastpass had an actual button called 'refresh.' Over time, parkgoers figured out that you could get better options if you kept pressing the refresh button over and over and over. Like for 30-60minutes. Though that is the short answer. How well it worked varied over time, and how crowded the parks were.

Lightning Lane Multiple Pass isn't quite the same. LLMP has 2 parts: prebooked passes (before the day), and additional passes (after using 1st pass).

1. Prebooks- they are sorta their own thing. Once you book passes, you can sometimes successfully opt to modify them, and if you keep trying, get better times. That said, often your best bet is to book the times you are initially offered, and THEN try to modify. (assuming you try to book right at 7am on the first day you can book).

2. After you use each pass, you can book another pass (4th pass). There are now more buttons to press through when trying to book a 4th pass than there was with fastpass, and only the last screen really matters. The time you appear to be offered on the 2nd to last screen is often - usually - a DIFFERENT time than the pass you are actually able to book.

So when booking that 4th pass, you can keep toggling back and forth before booking a pass (and 5th, 6th passes). if you choose.

Even after you book any pass, you can keep trying to modify it.

Sometimes refreshing can work, but the effort often only gets you a time that is 5-10minutes earlier. On the other hand, those unbookable phantom times can be a bit frustrating. Other times, if you try to modify a pass- there is no other option. They will just be sold out for the day. Once in a while, a ride that has just sold out will show up again, though with a very late return time.

I pulled every single non-show LL at HS the day of back in mid September by refreshing--we rope dropped MK on a party day with 3 rides prebooked for MK, intending to hop into HS. At busier times it will likely be a bit harder and require more refreshing but it's really not difficult, it's just that the process for "getting your foot in the door" as I used to call it (to avoid the dreaded clicking on a time that pops up only to see it vanish) is slightly different than it was with G+. I suspect a lot of people are getting got because they're still trying to do it like G+.

The biggest key is tapping in for your first ride ASAP. At park open or as close to it as humanly possible. We tapped in for Mad Tea Party at 7:55a and I pulled Slinky Dog after maybe 2 minutes of refreshing tops then modified Haunted Mansion into Tower of Terror. The only MK LL I prebooked that I actually used there was Tiana, after which we booked Rock n Roller Coaster. In the meantime we rode stuff at MK standby and watched shows. On the bus to HS I was able to back up RNRC and Tower to really good times back to back. Slinky I couldn't back up but I prefer it at night anyway so it was no big deal. Once there we were able to just keep rolling LLs until our break.

I think the best success is found in mixing standby with LLs, as it's always been. But also always have something booked, even if it's something absurd. It's much easier to refresh from the modify screen than just booking stuff outright.
I know I'll be there at a bit busier time but good to hear a number of people who clearly know what they're doing seem to generally be doing well. And yes - I've watched a few of the videos with the new interface to see how backing out and reclicking the times as opposed to pull down refreshing can help you avoid the disappearing times so I will count myself among those who know the different ways to go about doing this. At worst - based on the overall reports - it seems (particularly with me being solo) I should have at least moderate success. Crossing fingers.

Per Thrill Data, it is still possible to pick up many additional LL later in the day at MK while using LLMP. The best strategy is strategically pre-booking the highest demand rides, then booking the next highest demand ones as soon as possible. LLPP has impacted day of availability for 4th+ LL, but there are still many to be had.

Park hours are also going to impact this. A 9:00 am open and 10:00 pm close means less hours for LL booking than an 8:00 am or 11:00 pm close.

We used LL a lot when we were there in October. Refreshing worked well. I also liked the ability to get a LL and modify the ride or the time. We were often able to stack LLs about 30 minutes apart by modifying. Otherwise they are an hour or more. That helped a lot.

Definitely - I've found a couple bloggers who do a great job with visuals on the current interface and best ways to do it (particularly how to do it in the way to minimize the common issue of seeing a time but then it being gone once you actually click on it).
Any one in particular to check out? I used to be great at Genie+ refresh but have not been back since things changed. Unsure what the new method is. Thanks!

I think EarScouts is super clear with a few methods and very good at explaining (with actual visuals using the app) the different ways to do it and the pros and cons of each. It not terribly different from prior versions (which I was very good at) but there are definitely some interface changes and few new nuances. Based on my past experience with prior versions - knowing these tricks can make a HUGE difference in how many you can get.

I second EarScouts on YouTube. He does a great job explaining and actually showing you each step.

I continue to be a fan of Mammoth Club. Will have to check out these videos and compare.

I'll be there in 3 days staying off site. DDs favorite ride is ToT so tried for LLMP this morning - ToT not available. What are the odds of getting it via a modification or 4th day off - highly unlikely?

If you can’t get a Lightening Lane, just wait until the end of the day when the line get short. We’ve ridden Tower up to 13 times in just over two hours while everyone else waits for Fantasmic. That took a little running though. It’s a long way from the exit back to the entrance.

I watched my very first Mammoth Club and EarScout videos yesterday. I was surprised to find EarScout much more informative, especially on the refresh methods.

His “Tap-in, Tap-out” trick was the best piece of advice that I got from either video.

There was something similar with Genie+ that let you get to the screen directly where the time was held for you. Seeing a time to have it gone before you click to me was the biggest flaw in the system so it's great that there is that workaround to get directly to the other screen.

Yeah, she's got to get to her dance team check in around 6 so that won't work. Thanks, though! Hoping to get on it for our last day early or late!

On the day of, watch it like a hawk. People rope drop it and modify their LLs. I’ve never not gotten one day of

Tap in and Tap out method no longer works with the new app update (3/3). Only the pull down refresh method currently works
Where are you seeing an app updated? My last update was a week ago and the App Store isn't even showing me an update available (but I've turned off auto updates just in case).

Edit - I've just check the webpages for both the app store and google store and neither show an update dated today. Where are you seeing an update and were you in the parks today?

The last update was 8.7 on Feb. 22, 2025 for iOS. I think @DLRExpert is indicating they noticed today that Tap in Tap out did not work but the Pull down refresh method still worked (as it was designed into the app).

Possibly but his post was pretty clear that is doesn't work with the new update and not just as of today. And usually things like this only change functionality with updates.
