How has the economy effected your school?

I figured this would be the most appropriate place to put this:

My school just won an "Ed-ie". It means that we've been recognized as the NH Secondary School of Excellence. I'm excited about that. They only give it to one school a year and my school is the only one to win it twice in the 16 years the award has been around.

This is an awesome achievment for us because just three years ago we were in danger of becoming unaccredited and we had the highest dropout rate in the state.

It's a great change and I'm proud to say I've been a part of it.

The superintedent is walking around my school right now informing teachers if there being layed off or not...
So far I havent heard if any of my teachers are being layed off I just found out that my computers teacher is safe but I dont know about some of my others...
40 teachers are being layed off so its a big hit...

Alot of teachers are getting laid off - 19 teachers/administrators are going.

Acutally, OT, this happened last Friday.
My friend J recently passed, but in school she had this HORRIBLE biology teacher. She made fun of J for not knowing what some terms meant (which was actually caused by chemo, which ruins memory) Anyway, she found out she was getting furloughed. She told her colleagues that she would come back the next day (Friday) with a gun and if anyone said something she would shoot up the school.

Well, she came back with agun but kept it in her car, claiming she had a permit. Problem: we area gun free school so unless you're Military, you are not allowed to have a gun - even if you had a permit. They came and arrested her in class and now her butt is sitting in jail!
Karma is, a, well...you know. I know J is up there laughing her rear off at this teacher.

I'm happy that teacher got arrested
Seems like she has a heart of coal...
Wow... I know that all of the school in the state are getting hit real hard and you can see were all suffering...
There are 120 teachers at my school and 40 are getting layed off... so I know that its going to be a HUGE loss
Its hard to see teachers that you have came to know and love lose there job
My best friends mom is most likely going to loss her job since this her first year teaching which isn't good since there struggling right now to make it... they don't need this also...

At our school they are getting rid of the older teachers and hiring new right out of school teachers for less money. We don't have many unusal clubs or sports. They got rid of field trips. The teachers are starting use their own money to buy supplies. It's miserable -_-

Nothings really happened to our school, unless you could count that the rebuild has been pushed forward a year.
