Good afternoon-

my family (10 of us) are staying at OKW the end of March. We rented cars b/c we have read bus times are longer than in the past. We always used bus and MDE transportation in the past.

We get free parking as DVC members

Recent park visitors, how was your experience? Good, bad,? note: we have 4 children under 4 years old

Bus capacity is currently around 20 to 25 persons max per bus. With 10 of you, you would take up about 1/2 of a buses available capacity.

Buses are currently divided in to 6 seating zones and the driver assigns the zones. Standing on buses is not permitted at this time.

Thanks for the detailed update. going in April and was wondering how they were set up.

They're actually up to 11 or 12 zones per bus now.

Good to know.
We haven't decided if we will drive or take the bus to most parks.
I know we are taking the bus to MK. That should give us an idea of the buses to the other parks.

Could you elaborate on what that means exactly...11 or 12 zones per bus? We're currently trying to decide if we want to rent a car this time for extra precautions and have been looking for this info specifically on how busses are being loaded and to what capacity. Also curious if anyone knows that same info regarding Magical Express as well. Thanks!

Yes, per bus. Some zones have as few as 2 seats, or as many as 4. The driver tells you which zone to sit in.

Speaking of buses. I too have a few questions. My hubby and I are staying at ASM at the end of the month so I would like to know what it’s like. Thanks in advance for answering.
  1. How early can you catch a bus from the resort to the parks?
  2. How long is the ride?
  3. When’s the last bus from the parks?

The All Stars are nearest Animal Kingdom (10 minutes or so), and quite the trek to Magic Kingdom and especially Disney Springs (at least 25 minutes). Hollywood Studios and Epcot are a little closer.
People have been reporting first park buses leaving 45 minutes to an hour before opening.
Buses run until the parks are clear of guests.

Does this slow everything up? I’ve always been impressed with bus situation and how quickly buses arrive at the resorts, so are you standing at the bus stop for longer now?

When I was there in September, for the most part, the buses were running pretty empty. One day, at OKW hospitality house, bus after bus was at capacity for MK. I was heading to AK that day, but I was watching the frustration grow on the people waiting to go to MK only to have the bus pull up to say they are full. That was the one and only time I saw that happened in the 9 days I was there. I do know Disney was asking people who had their own transportation to use that, and not the buses.

We were there in December at Boardwalk so were lucky to be able to walk to Epcot and Hollywood. We really only used the bus for MK. And I would say that on the four occasions we used the bus to MK, we had to wait for the second bus to come because the first would fill up. I don't think we waited especially long for the second bus to roll up but we might have lowered expectations during covid. We didn't have to wait for buses to get from MK back to BW. That said, it was just the three of us, you have a lot more people to cram onto a bus. I think I might lean towards using the rental cars with the exception of MK. Offhand, I don't recall what the transportation options are from OKW. No ferry, I suppose?
