Hi everyone. We are a family of 5, 2 boys ages 6 and 3, and my daughter 10 months and my husband! Anyway, we went last year when I was pregnant and had such a great time! We weren't planning on going again till my daughter was at least 2 until we saw the great deal going on now. So now we are considering it! Let me ask those that have travelled with an infant...how was it? I am wondering how hard it will be to go on rides with her and if it will even be possible? Should we hold off till she is older? Any advice, tips, etc. will be greatly appreciated. Also, where did you stay and did you return back for naps? As you can see I need help!

I'll be able to answer your question much better in a few weeks when we return from taking our 10month old! But, I can tell you from taking him at 4 mos, that it was wonderful! Although he didn't really know what was going on, it was so much fun just to have him there and share the Disney magic with him. We did take him on many rides - IASW, Dumbo, PoC, TTA, Nemo, etc. He was fascinated with the characters and loved the pool and was so easy-going. I used the baby care centers for some feedings - which were wonderful. We used Baby Bjorn a lot and the rest he was in the stroller. He would usually just take his naps in the stroller while we went about doing other things. Of course, at 10months, he's moving around a lot more - crawling and pulling himself up, not quite walking yet. I keep hoping he'll take his first step in Disney! We're planning on getting his first haircut at the Main Street Barber Shop! I'm looking forward to all these wonderful memories!

Well, we recently went when my daughter was 11 months. I was lucky in the fact that she liked to sleep a lot and her temperment was pretty mild. She wasn't walking yet, so that helped. If I took her now at 18mth I think I'd have to be heavily sedated. It's a whole new ballgame when they know they can get out of the stroller.

Anyhow, the trip went pretty smooth, we just had to slow it down. I took a stroller that had a full recline which saved us from having to leave a lot to go back for naps. We were able to take her on most rides amazingly enough. Not, of course on anything like space mountain, but a lot more than I had thought. You can take advantage of the "parent swap" system if you don't have an extra adult to watch the little ones. (It's like a fast pass for parents).

To help with the naps, I brought a smaller light weight blanket to drape over the front of the stroller canopy and secured it to the top with 2 clothespins. That way I could just flip it up when she was awake and down when she needed a nap. I also brought along a stroller fan which I never had to actually use since the weather was perfect with low humidity.

To help with my travel load since we were flying, before we left we ordered stuff from garden grocer (babyfood, diapers, formula, snacks, etc...) and had it sent to our hotel. We used a pack-n-play from Disney.

So all and all, it wasn't bad. You just have to prepare yourself mentally that you won't be able to "do it all" when you travel with a child that young. Also, you know your child's temperment best, so that might help you gage how your experience will go.

PS- We stayed at Coronado Springs Resort and All Star Movies. CSR was wonderful, and the bus system better than Movies. But my son really loved staying in the Toy Story section at ASMo. He still talks about it 6 months later. My first choice travelling with a baby would have been Contemporary, GF, or the Poly since they're on the monorail system. But they weren't in our budget at the time.

We went when DS was 9 months old in July and are going again in 2 weeks when he'll be 13 months old. Be flexible! DS didn't nap like he normally does at home, even if we went back to our room around his normal naptime he didn't. So whenenever he did nap we let him. Usually it was in the stroller and we'd just walk around the park while he napped. Every day we did go back to the hotel mid-day to rest, whether we napped or not. We'd go hit the pool and then hit another park at night. As long as you are flexible you will be fine.

Oh and definitely see characters, of course that's a no-brainer! We had breakfast at CP and DS LOVES LOVES Pooh but he went NUTS when he saw all of the characters and seeing them interact with him was just something I'll remember forever. Everyone around us was watching our table and smilking because he'd shriek with excitement when any of the characters came up to him.

Oh also invest in a Ray Shade! We got one at Babies R Us before we left and you just attach it to your stroller over its current shade and it basically extends the shade and it really really helped keep DS not only cool but helped keep the light out when he wanted to catch some Zzzzzz's.

I'd say you will do fine as long as you don't feel like you need to do/see EVERYTHING in the parks. We did Disney with a 5-month-old and went back to the hotel in the middle of the day for naps. My parents went with us, so that helped with enabling us to do rides/push strollers. And as FSUSammy indicated, make sure you have adequate shade for the baby!

Originally we thought we'd never do Disney with a baby since he'd never remember it. But then we realized he didn't cost us a dime, so it didn't matter!

I think a lot of it depends on the temperament of your child. There is no way I could have taken my last one at that age. He was a lot of work. He wasn't walking yet but would not have been happy to ride around in a stroller all day and not be able to get out and crawl around. On the other hand your child may be very easy going and may love it. It all depends on the child.
