How hard to get a site in January?

We are looking to go down the week of the 3-10th and we aren't sure yet whether we want to camp the whole time or just part of the trip (DH is doing the goofy challenge again and may want a REAL bed for those last few nights.) Anyone know how likely it is that the Fort will fill up for that week? Should I make a reservation now to be safe or can I wait a couple more months? We would just have a tent, so we wouldn't need a full hook-up site...

I think it would be wise to book now, as there are only two Partial Loops so why take a chance for one nights deposit..

We have been during that time and it isn't very crowded. But, with that being said, I would go ahead and book the site. You can cancel a room only ressie within 5 days of check in and not lose your deposit.

I would go ahead and book. Earlier today, I had intentions of booking the third week in January. However, according to Disney's website, there are no full sites available at that time. I am not interested in paying the extra $ for a preferrred or premium. I will continue to check everyday for a full site for my desired week. IF one opens up, I'll book, if not, I won't. I never dreamed that 5 months out, all of the full sites would be reserved during a "value" time.

Luckily, we had a better opportunity (foy us) to visit at a different time and a full was available during that time, so it all worked out. I would have booked a full for January long ago, but I am waiting to hear when January 2010 home school days will be. That's my hold up!

Book now. Don't wait.

I've stayed at FW for the last 4 Marathon weekends (2006 & 2007 I ran the Full, 2008 & 2009 DS and I ran the Goofy) and I always make my reservation as soon as I get home from the race. You won't know the rates if you reserve that early though. In fact, just this week I received the rate for 2010.

If you know that you are going to have days in January, I'd say go on and book the whole month and then once you know the days call back and cancel what you don't need (as early as possible, out of courtesy to others attempting to book). I know not everybody will like this idea, but hey! it's Disney and you gotta get yours! Ya feel me!?

That would be my recommendation and while a partial is not a high occupancy site the WDW marathon is usually sometime in the first week or so in Jan.
