How hard to get 1 bedroom Jambo Value?

I am planning a trip for October 2009. Do I have a good chance of getting the 1 bedroom Jambo value at the 7 month window? Or are they hard to get if not at 11 months. I'm hoping with Kidani opening in the spring, that it will be easier.

There are only the value (small) rooms in Jambo. Kidani will not add any value rooms, and will only be adding competition. I would expect value to be a difficult booking category.
Of course, BWV standard view is also said to be a very difficult category (but much larger than AKV value), and I got it at 7mo for pre-thanksgiving Nov07...

So the Kidani opening won't help me any I guess. I'd be happy if I got BWV standard too. I was only able to get BWV preferred at the 7 month window.
BWV standard will be my 2nd option. Thanks for your reply.

There are a maximum of 10 Value 1BRs in all of AKV. Each is part of a 2BR lockoff so any Value 2BRs that are rented out take away one of the 1BR villas. Given those numbers, and the fact that the number of people who can book them 11 months out is increasing every week, it will be difficult to get one at 7 months.

What does the 1 bdrm. Value Jambo look at? How about the standard 1bdrm. Jambo? I am partial to Jambo because I want to be at the main lodge. Thanks for any info. :goodvibes

This map shows the Units sold at Jambo House. The rooms that make up each Unit are marked on the map. The booking categories are color-coded.

Here's a drawing of Jambo House that I marked up showing the booking category locations. I used a different color code here: Green for Value, Yellow for Standard View, Pink for Concierge. The orange blobs are the GVs.

Thanks! Actually, except for the few that look over the parking lot, most seem to have pretty good views! I'll put these on my list. Thanks again! :goodvibes

Some views are better than others. AKV707 posted photos of the view from a Value 1BR just off the lobby towards the pool area. His view was of the roof of Boma and Jiko and some trees. He could not see the pool at all. He posted photos in post #75 in this thread.

This aerial photo will give you a better idea why some of the pool area rooms have better views than others. AKV707's room was in the leftmost of the two blocks of rooms in the lower left of this photo.

Are any of the Value units HA? I've been trying to recall from previous threads but think I may be confusing with Concierge.

The floor plans show one HA Value room. It's room number 5010, a 1BR facing the pool area. The floor plan shows a tub rather than a roll-in shower. (The Jambo House 1BRs have a combined whirlpool tub and shower rather than a separate shower stall. Some but not all of Jambo's HA 1BRs have a roll-in shower instead of a tub/shower.) It would be right in the middle of the first building segment from the lobby on the Giraffe Trail.

Thanks LisaS! So there's a floor plan that would show all the HA units in AKV? Could I get a link to that? :)

I have a complete set of floor plans that I extracted from the documents DVC files with Orange County whenever they declare new Units into the condominium. The data from those plans has been uploaded into a database that is hosted on DVCNews.com. There is a searchable database there that would allow you to generate a list of all of the HA rooms at AKV and most of the other DVC resorts. Here is a link to the AKV room database search page http://dvcnews.com/index.php?option=com_fabrik&Itemid=216

Just a word of caution: the floor plans are not 100% accurate. For example, one of the HA 1BRs in Concierge has a roll-in shower but the floor plan shows that it has a tub. Wherever we had a room report that contradicted the floor plan, we used the information from the room report but we did not have room reports for every room. So when it comes to something like an HA room, be sure to double check with MS to verify that they have a room in that booking category that will meet your requirements.

That's very helpful for planning. It's nice to know approx. what exists so that I don't spend too much time planning for something that isn't there. Thanks again! :flower3:
