How hard to book?

I booked an OKW GV at the 7 month mark for Sept 5-12 this year. Then this week I started second guessing whether it was the best choice for us, given the ages (4-7) of the 5 grandkids we'll be with. Even though the extra space would have been nice, we changed to a 2 bedroom and studio at Kidani because the kids have stayed there before and loved it. Last year at about the same time we had good luck getting studios at VWL and BWV. We're already planning next year's mid-Sept trip and will again try a 7 month switch.

But people who bought at WDW also book at VB, Aulani, HHI, and VGC opening rooms at WDW. How is the balance?

My gut tells me that more book at WDW resorts due to the attractions, restaurants and size of WDW.

there's also more seasonality for a beach resort. maybe not as much for hawaii, but january in wdw is a little more popular than at HHI or VB...

Buy at a home resort you like don't be driven by the price per point remember your maintenance dues differ between resorts. We contemplated between BLT and BC. After making three offers on a BLT resale contract we closed in February 2012. It was just days shy of the 11 month booking window at BLT and I was already blocked out from a standard view studio. You will be able to try other resorts over the life of your contract but you might be limited on availabilty for some of your trips that is why you want to buy into a home resort that you will be happy with. Good Luck
