How hard to book HHI at Christmas at 7 months?

Thinking it would be nice to do Xmas at HHI in 2023. How hard is it to book a studio at 7 months, at least 3 nights, 2 of which include Xmas Eve night and Xmas night?

If you book as soon as the 7 month window opens, I think your chances are pretty good.

Book right when the window opens and you should be okay.

You should be fine if you book as soon as the 7-month window opens. Here's historic available for all DVC resorts/accommodations. At 5 months availability is more limited.

One factor to keep an eye on is the state of the long-awaited refurbishment there. It was pushed back twice during the pandemic and about a year ago, they refreshed two rooms in Bldg 30 as test rooms (3012 and 3014). They've done little to them since, but chances are pretty good they'll start the overall refurbishment in 2023. When is the question.

Earlier reports from some guests mentioned this fall as the start, but nothing yet, nor did I expect any due to the resort having purchased 30 new couches last spring to replace the worst ones throughout the resort--you don't do that if you intend to do a refurbishment within a year. My best guess is they will start fall of 2023, though this coming January is also a possibility. Logic dictates they don't want to lose reservations during the high value/high season time of spring break through Labor Day. It would be quite a push to get all the rooms done between Jan and late April, let's say. Alternately, starting after Labor Day next year would give them more time to finish the project.

Ff they do start next year, it could impact the number of rooms available which would make your ability to book at 7 months dicier. One other factor is that studios are already a prime target as there are much fewer of those than 2BRs, and guests who visit needing an elevator for access, have only 1BRs and studios from which to choose.

All that to say, try it! But, keep in mind that snagging a studio next year, in particular, could be a little tougher than usual.
