How Hard To add Dining and Park Tickets To Reservation?

I just finished talking to a cm from Disney (NOT Member Services) and he said that my room reservation had to be cancelled to add both the dining plan and park tickets at the SAME time to make a package. Is this true??

No, that's not true.

You need to add the dining plan through Member Services. DVC doesn't do packages, so you're on your own for tickets; buy them from Disney or any reputable ticket reseller. With a cash reservation through CRO, you need to reserve a package with tickets to get the dining plan. That's not the case with DVC, a ticket purchase is not required to get the dining plan.

Thank you, the way the cm made it sound, I was afraid I would lose my room reservation in the process of rebooking it all as a package. Was he thinking maybe of regular Disney packages and not DVC?

But why would you be talking to a regular CM about it? That's where the confusion would come in - on a DVC reservation, anything you want to do with it has to be done through Member Services. I'm guessing most of the CMs on the regular phone line wouldn't know anything about DVC bookings. And as stated above, you can add dining but not tickets.

Does that apply to the non-DVC hotels too? The ones in the Disney Collection (Poly, GF, etc)
Trying to determine if you can add dining to those reservations just as easily. Has anyone successfully done it?

If you want to use points for the Disney Collection, you have to call Member Services.

If you are using cash through CRO, you do have to make it a package to add the dining plan.

Yes I have at Poly. Last year we found at the time our final payment was due we didnt have all the money due to unforseen circumstances. :sad2:My agent removed all our tickts and DDP except for one days worth. In order to keep my ressie we had to keep it a package deal hense at least one day of a complete package. I then had til 7 days prior to arrival to add the tickets and ddp to my ressie. Worked like a charm:cheer2::cheer2:.

As with everything Disney make sure their policy hasnt changed and call back if you are not sure if CM has complete information.

I called Disney for prices because it was after Member Services was closed. I'm a newbie! :) I've learned my lesson. ;)

Yes, definitely call Member Services! And for dining, depending on what time of year it is, DVC members may have a different price for dining than the general public as well. DVC members currently do not pay the peak prices for the dining plans, only the regular price all year round. So a CM at the regular number would not be aware of that either.
