to dry a load of clothes? :confused3

I'm really sick and asked DH to do one little thing for me last night before he went to bed. I asked him to put the clothes from the washer into the dryer.

Not too tough, right?

Well, he put them in the dryer okay, but he didn't turn the dryer on!!! :headache:

SIGH! Can so see that happening in my house?

I have yet to understand why when he puts dishes away from the dishwasher, he will - everytime without fail - leave two sitting on the counter. Why? No clue.

I think when some men enter the "laundry area" in a home...something just shuts off inside their brain.

heheh

I have to give my DH credit...when he empties the dishwasher (on his own accord)...he does a DANG FINE JOB and has finally, after over 2 years of living in this house, figured out where I like everything to go. heheh

I'm so glad to hear I'm not alone!

Kbkids, I wonder why two! He must have some trauma from his childhood involving dishes... wonder what Freud would have to say about that.

Don't mind me, I'm just high on cold & flu meds.

Oh, can't tell you how many times I've asked that same question. Some times it makes sense, casserole dish he wasn't sure where it went, etc., but then other times, it's a glass and a plate. :confused3 If I ever do ask, "Oh,' I'm sorry - the phone rang, DS or DD called me, the doorbell rang, etc." I used to think it was a conspiracy to get me to quit asking him to put away the dishes - but now, he puts away the dishes almost all of the time without me asking - that's just "his job." So, I try not to complain. I mean, I'm only having to put away two versus the entire load. But, it is weird!!

You're lucky you can even let your DH in the laundry room! My DH was banned from the laundry room years ago, after ruining too many clothes over a period of time. :headache:

Well, you did ask him to put them in the dryer. Did you specifically say, "put them in the dryer AND turn it on"? :rotfl2:

Oh and the putting dishes away, it drives me NUTS that DH, who by the way can do calculus in his head, can't figure out where things go in the kitchen. I told him when we moved into this house that he had two choices, either unpack the kitchen and put things away where he thought they should go or figure out where things belong. Every time I cook I spend about 15 minutes trying to track something down. Remember that Sesame Street song "One of these things is not like the others, One of these things just doesn't belong". I find myself humming that song very frequently especially when I find a sauce pan in the cupboard that has all the tupperware stuff or something that really obviously doesn't belong there!

Yep...your fault..you didn't tell him to turn it on! :teeth:

That's what my kids always tell me. I tell them to load the dishwasher, they load it but don't run it...why? Cause that is not what I asked them to do! I never said the words turn it on!

You do realize that song is now stuck in my head - :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: Whenever my DH does something stupid, I always tell him that:

"it is going to take years to undo what his "MaMa" did to him!

Ooo - maybe that's it. His mother rarely made him and his brother do any chores - a habit we broke very quickly in our marriage. But maybe she did leave a dish out for each of them to put away so no one could say she was spoiling her children. ;)

I don't allow dh to do the laundry anymore - he has shrunk so many clothes it isn't even funny. He just throws everything from the washing machine into the dryer, puts it on high and walks away...... He claims he's trying to help -

Well, one time my DH decided to start the laundry. He put in the clothes and detergent, started the load...but forgot to close the lid of the washer, so the clothes just sat in the water until I noticed later that night.

And with the dishes, he will put them away, but only the plates, glasses, and silverware. He leaves all the pots/pans, casseroles, gadgets, etc. on the butcher block for me to put away. He says he doesn't know where anything goes.

At least he tries!

Looks like I'll be having Whine and cheese for lunch today... :)

This was my exact thought too!

On the dishwasher thing, my hubby will not empty it claiming he doesn't know where anything goes. Of course DDs (7 and 4) beg to help empty and know where everything goes! But what I don't get is when he needs something in the kitchen (to cook or for eating), he seems to know where everything is! Hmmm?? But he loads and runs the dishwasher every day, so I will gladly empty with my helpers!

Me and my DH have a pretty good division of labor. I do laundry and clean the kitchen. He cooks and cleans the bathroom.

BUT...

Every time he asks me to unload the dishwasher, he proceeds to stay in the kitchen and stand in front of the dishwasher. When I ask him to move, he moves and stands in front of the cabinets I need to get to. When I ask him to move again, he goes in front of the silverware drawer!

I think he is TRYING to annoy me!

The last time I was sick I was in bed for three days. I asked DH to do some laundry and I has to draw him a picture of the control panel so he'd know what buttons to push. We've had this washer since March so you can see how much laundry he does...
Just the other day, he opened the dishwasher to put a dirty glass in and when he saw that it needed to be emptied, he quickly closed the door and walked away (didn't know I saw him.)

Hi, Mareesya...just passing through...love the thread
