How hard is it to increase the number of people for an ADR?

I am a bit annoyed with my in-laws. We told them ages ago that we were going to Disney and we would like them to come. We also invited my parents. We reminding them when were booking the rooms and while we were figuring out our ADRs. My parents were totally on the ball and booked the same time we did with the same travel agent. My in-laws just hemmed and hawed, and we figured they didn't want to come.
Well now that I have all my ADRs planned for us and my parents and the whole trip planned, my in-laws have informed us that they want to come.

Now what? How hard will be to increase the number of people for our ADRs? Or is it even possible? Would I have to cancel and try again to get them? Some I will not give up, such as CRT for my daughter's birthday and Le Cellier. Others, I guess we could try to rearrange, but it just makes everything so difficult.

Any advice. We are travelling from July 21st to July 27th.

Yes, they will have to cancel the old ones and make new ones with the new number of people.

Make sure they make the new ones before they cancel the old ones, just in case!!

I would say just call and hope for the best. I had my ADRs since March and I just found out this past weekend that my cousin and her husband and kids and my Aunt will be there some of the same days we will. She had all but one of her ADRs. I called and asked about adding 5 people to my ADR at Ohana and she sent me over to group dining they had a table for 13 at 7:10 and my Adr was for 7:00. So we are both really excited. So again just call and ask but do it fast.

I just called a couple of days ago to do the same thing. I thought the same exact thing, that you had to make a new reservation and then cancel the old one. However, the cm told me that it depended on what kind of table I had been given. There was only 1 reservation out of 6 that I was able to add on, but it was worth asking!

You'll have to cancel the original reservations and get new ones. Also, scold your in-laws!

That is correct. This has happened to us often. Since we are a table for 2 most time, when we have added friends the dining CM will look up the reservation and see if we were put in a 2 table or 4 table, so sometimes it is easy to adjust it. When they can't adjust it, they must cancel the old and make a new one. I always go with booking for the higher number when I think my friends and family may show up while we're there. It's easy to go down in size when it comes to tables (not to diets).

Can't the OP just keep the existing reservations and cancel the in-laws?

LMAO!! Sometimes I wish this were the case. They can be very delightful people and very generous, but MIL can be the most indecisive person and FIL can be a bit overbearing at times. But I think I worked it all out. FIL probably won't like the dates I picked, but this way they get to eat with us instead of waiting outside :lmao: (I just wasn't going to cancel some of those ADRs)

Thanks for all the advice, as always, it was very helpful. I love this board!!!

we had all our adr's and now my brother and his kids are coming with us.
soooo, had to cancel all my adr's (it was perfect) and now i have MOST
of my adr's together which means we were a table for 4 now we are a table of 8:scared1: . however, i keep calling and i do have some as a table of 8 if not, they said we should be seated near each other.

Honestly, I don't think it will be that difficult (not sure about CRT or Le Cellier). I agree that it depends on how many are currently on your ADR and what type of table they booked you at. When I recently called to add one more to our ADRs (we were booked for 6), some had us at 2 tables of 4, so adding one more was simple. Others were totally booked for the night, so CM suggested booking the add'l person at a table for 2 around the same time and ask them when we got there to sit together. The CMs actually at the restaurants will try their best to make sure you're all together. Good luck!
