how good are special order cakes from AKL?

We will be at AKV in June and will be eating at Jiko. Has anyone ever ordered a cake from here and how good was it. I know the cakes from the GF and Cont. always seem to look great and people seem to like them, but have not heard or seen much about AKL. Help needed.

I'd love to know too. We'll be at AKL in June too and I'd love to have a cake made and waiting the room to surprise the kids and my husband.

I ordered a special birthday cake 2 years ago for my DDs Sweet 16. I emailed several weeks early, sent design ideas, etc. Made it clear it a big deal and that money was no object. I had seen so many beautiful cakes on the cake thread that I had grand expectations. In all honesty it was a HUGE disappointment. The cake seemed to be one of the standard filled cake. The decorations were nothing like what I asked for, and if my DD hadn't been happy with it I probably would have complained. However, she was happy so to avoid spoiling her birthday I let it go.
