How Genie+ Worked for us Late Sleepers...

We arrived at the park every day last week (for 5 days) after 11am. A couple of times after noon. The first LL was always a 2-3 hour wait, but after the first 2 hour window I was ALWAYS able to get at least 2-3 immediate - 1 hour returns on LL by refreshing! Usually able to get at least 5 LL rides - always our faves with 60-90 minute waits!

This is very encouraging to me, because I'm not an early riser, either. (Although I can make it out of a hotel and into Disneyland well before 11:00. ) So many recommendations for today's Disneyland environment seem to emphasize doing rope drop. I understand the benefits of that approach but am relieved to hear that other timing can work just fine, too.

We are semiloocal (San Diego) and never rope drop. The earliest I’ve ever made it through the gates was 9:30. The modify feature for G+ is a real game changer. I was able to refresh a Guardians LL that was for late afternoon to an almost immediate return time on my most recent visit. Game. Changer.

That's interesting that you were able to get an earlier time. Maybe now that people can adjust their return times some are choosing to group rides later in the day.

This is a bit of a relief to hear. I know we’ll almost never make rope drop during our time there in May. Getting two kids (6 & 8) and wife to be ready for rope drop would be a monumental task. LOL.

I'm glad to hear this. We are going to be going into the park on our arrival day (plane lands at 12, so we'll be lucky to be at the gate by 2pm) and we have genie+. We'll be rope dropping the rest of the trip, but I was nervous about being able to use it for more than 2 rides on our first day.

I personally treat G+ like the old fastpass of WDW - it’s a 3 ride guarantee, everything else is gravy. That said we have routinely gotten many rides out of G+, but it all depends on crowds and how you utlize it. If you are planning on arriving and staying late on your arrival day you will still get good value out of it, but will most likely need to use the modify function to try and get earlier return times. Remember when you tap into a ride you can book your next one, you don’t need to wait until 2 hrs. That is where the modify feature really helps as you can move a later ride up.
