Our UY begins in September but we wanted to take a trip 2 weeks before the new UY. In your experience, will MS allow us to borrow early? We only have 15 points available in the 2014 UY and would need 2015's points. TIA :)

Something like that is not up to MS and it isn't possible.

What you are able to do is purchase up to 24 one time use points thru MS, transfer points in to your membership, rent a reservation or pay cash.

No, you cannot borrow 2 years ahead even for just 2 weeks early. I'd suggest you look at a Free Dining offer or possibly rent distressed points. Look at it as an opportunity to get your points built up.

I am not sure which year you are talking about. If you want to reserve Aug 2014, much of which may already be gone since it is only 3 months out, you will not be allowed to borrow Sep 2015 points. MS never allows borrowing except into the immediate prior use year; that is a DVC rule for which MS has no discretion to avoid. If you are talking about an Aug 2015 trip, you will be able to reserve it 11 months out at home resort (meaning calling to reserve sometime in Sep 2014). or 7 months out for another DVC resort, and borrow the Sep 2015 points to do the reservation. That would not be "early" borrowing since trip time not your calling-to-reserve date determines whether you can borrow.

Oh well :(. Thanks for the info. Dh and I just thought a last minute trip this summer for dd's bday would be nice but I guess that won't be happening. I appreciate the feedback

Is it possible to do a two-way transfer? In other words, transfer in points expiring soon from someone who won't be able to use them, and then transfer out 2015 points back to that person? I know there is a 1-per-year limit on transfers, but not sure if that's 1 either way, or 1 both ways.

you can only transfer in or out during the UY, not both.

but you could transfer this UY pts out and next UY pts in. sure.

there would need to be some incentive to take the near expiration pts, though.

any cash involved should not be discussed when talking to MS.
