How few days can you get pkg for?

We are taking a niece to wdw next year and are trying to decide if we should by MYW passes or if we should wait and see if a package comes out. How far in advance do they release packages for Oct. and is there a minimum # of nights you have to stay. We usually have year passes but won't for this trip. We want a hopper option also. Is a package the way to go? We will be staying 3 nights but could do 4 if it was worthwhile. Thanks

For 2007 they have done away with the 3 night requirement for packages. In the past the discounts have come out late summer

Am I right in assuming I can make a room only ressie and then switch it if a pkg is available?

I believe that you need 3 nights minimum if you want the dining plan.
