How fast does Jedi Training fill up

My 5 year old DD really wants to do this. It's all she talks about. We plan on going to sign ups first thing but I'm curious if we need to make an effort to walk fast or anything to get a spot?

Also, is it just random who they battle or is there a secret to being picked to battle Darth Vader?

When we were there in December, there was barely a line at opening to sign up. We had our pick of just about any showtime. It is random on who they battle. They have two lines of kids going to battle Darth Vader and The Seventh Sister. One is on the stage and the other is on the floor, but Darth & SS switch about 1/2 through the battle.

My kids did it three weeks ago on a weekend and we had no issues signing up first thing at 8:00. When we went to drop them off at 10:00 they had just filled up the last show and were taking standby only. So definitely sign up early, but there's no need to race over there in the first few minutes.

I believe who they face is random.

As others have said, it doesn't 'sell out' super fast so as long as you sign up straight away you'll be fine, no need to run/rush. But make sure that your DD knows that she could be battling anyone - Darth Vadar isn't always there, sometimes its Kylo Ren instead. And then its a 50/50 chance whether she'll be up against him or the Seventh Sister.

No matter who appears its good fun though - such a well done experience.

Yes I've told her that there's no guarantee who she gets.

It tends to sell out faster when the park has its Early Magic Hour / Magic Morning.
However, I would recommend signing up when the park opens just to be safe.

So do you get to choose a training time -- or is the next available one just assigned?

We were asked which time we wanted.

I don't know if this is common at Disneyland since we've only been once but we signed up for the 2:25 show. When we returned to check in at 2pm they were still taking registrations for 3:30 and 4:30.

Thanks, otten! I want to book a breakfast so am actually hoping we don't get the first training time.

We got there at 11 in April and it was wait list only for all times. However, we managed to get a spot the first time we came back. It was really fun to watch. I'm glad we'd just gotten to episodes with the Seventh Sister in Rebels. And all three appeared in this case -- Seventh Sister, Kylo Ren, and Vader. But the kids only had one on one battles against two of them. I think they all just force-pushed the last one.

It wasn't a particularly busy day when we were there. We were 3rd or 4th to sign up I think? The kids battle either Darth Vader or the Seventh Sister. My daughter was thrilled to get to fight Darth Vader (and she was first even). Then Kylo Ren came out. Just FYI but my toddler found the Kylo portion really scary. Darth Vader didn't bother her but she was really freaked out by the Kylo part.

we were there this last week and they filled up by 11am! Was busy Last week :(
