How fashionable are you?

i am as fashionable as my budget allows. so, basically, i try to keep myself in nice clothing. i am a pretty basic girl though. i would LOVE to buy more high-end clothing, but for now, i'll stick with ann taylor loft, gap and j.crew.
i am a mom and photographer. so. comfort is important to me. but i also want to look nice for my clients, but with easy clothing.

Add Banana Republic and White House Black Market to that and you have just described my wardrobe.

I'm an not "high fashion" but I do buy good, in-stlyle, clothes. I am currently LOVING the printed/screen t-shirt under a cardigan look...and of course, argyle. I love, love, love clothes and shopping. Luckly for me, DBF likes it too. :thumbsup2

Don't get me started on shoes...

What is this "fashionable" of which you speak? :confused3

One of the reasons I LOVE being the age I am. I don't care anymore. When I was in my 20's and early 30's, it really mattered to me what people thought about my clothing. Now that I'm pushing 50, I wear what I like, I wear what's comfortable and if people don't like it that's too bad for them.

Nope. I have my favorite things to wear, and don't really fuss much about fashion. On the days I work, of course I dress "up" a little more, but still mostly classic slacks and sweaters at this time of year, not really the height of trendy. At home today, I'm in jeans and a hooded sweatshirt.

I really like clothing and like staying up to date. I get referred to as one of the best dressed women in my office (hey, I'm smart too, so I can deal with best dressed as well ;)).

I find buying just a few current piece and wearing them often works best for me. That way, I don't end up with a lot of dated clothing in my wardrobe that is still in perfect condition.

I have kind of a "preppy chic" look and buy Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, J Crew. I dress for me, but I do think how you look affects other peoples' perceptions of you and that in turn can affect the opportunities that get offerred to you.

I try to be. I look for items that work well with my body type and try to keep outfits looking put together. I do have my "I do not care days" where it is sweats and hoodies all the way but most time I am stylishly casual.

Change the "jeans" to "lounge pants", and I could be your twin!

Life's too short to wear pantyhose. ;)

I was very fashionable in my 20's and even in my 30's I did ok. In my 40's I lost the time and energy to keep it all together! As many here are saying I just don't have the time to shop and if I do I don't want to spend the day trying on clothes - most of which won't fit like I would like because of the extra pounds from not having the time to go to the gym!!!

Now I just have navy, khaki, black pants for work and mostly matching staff shirts. At home and running the kids I am all about the sweat suit. Pants jacket and tee. I hate jeans, I find them most uncomfortable. I can't remember the last time I had on heals or makeup! And if I get them out someone better be having a heck of a party! :dance3:

:lmao:NOPE. I try a few times a year and go on a small shopping spree but then after a week it's too much work and I am back to normal.

When we lived in Florida it was baggy cargo shorts that were super comfy and some sort of t-shirt. If we went out as a family somewhere I would wear a tank top and short sleeve button down shirt instead!! ALWAYS flip flops. I did have a few nicer jeans/pants/shirt combos for dinner out with DH because we tended to have a lot of company dinners down there.

Since being back up north I am literally in PJ's all day at home but I didn't think it work buying casual maternity clothes for staying at home. When I go out for errands or with DH it's jeans/pants and a sweater but that's only because I only have a few maternity tops that are winter and they are all nicer tops or sweaters!

I am hoping once this LO is born and I lose some weight I'll get a little more fashionable.

I am with Binny though, I desperately need a new haircut to go along with this. I am planning on getting it cut next week before Baby Ryan's arrival so I don't look SOOO horrible in the pictures!!!

I guess as long as my 19 yo dd keeps stealing my clothes, I'll know I'm doing at least okay in the fashion department. :lmao:

My office is kind of casual so I've dropped the suits in favor of dress pants and cardigans in the winter and dresses or skirts in the spring/summer/fall. At home, I wear jeans in the winter (not mom jeans!) with a plain t-shirt and a cardigan or a sweater. If it's really cold, I'll wear a sweatshirt and jeans and boots for running errands, etc.

I am not a huge accessorizer. I have a couple of necklaces but I'm not really a fan of jewelry, etc. I also don't care about expensive bags and shoes. That seems like a waste of money for me since it's something I don't really care about.

Well since I have lost the last 20 lbs I've stuggled with for the last 10 years I have really stepped it up and have started to dress more fashionable. Even got a pair of skinny jeans!!! (I'm 53) My DD 14 say's I look great and she is now borrowing some of my clothes...lol

I usually try to put myself together to help at school, and definately to have coffee w/ my girlfriends. I'm a stay at home mom, so I don't take it too seriously. Some of my SAHM girlfriends go a little over the top, I think. Think real housewives of orange county. I was helping at the school concession stand & all of the other moms had on sweatshirts & jeans, one of my girlfriends walks in dressed to the nines in a tight sweater w/ a large belt, heels, big jewelry, etc. This I think is too much, I just usually try to dress appropriately for the occasion. I would never want to embarass my kids. I shop pretty inexpensively- like cute tops from Target & Maurices, some Old Navy or Express. I have cut back on the amount of clothes I buy as I'd rather spend the $ on vacations. A current looking but inexpensive purse (from Target or The Buckle, etc) and some sunglasses add a lot to a t-shirt and jeans;). I usually run my littlest to pre-school w/ hair in a pony, no makup & sweats, so I don't feel like I have to be all dolled up to leave the house, but I will usually eventually get around to putting on something a little nicer. Today my ds7 is home sick, so the sweats and pony are staying:thumbsup2!

I am not fashionable.

Recently, some good friends of mine have become friends with another couple, the female half of which is fashionable. She is very into clothes. She makes somewhat rude comments about what she sees other people wearing. She made a sort of side comment about the outfit I was wearing the first time we met. I found that a bit odd. Sure, she's a bit younger than I am, but she's still late 20's. This isn't middle school anymore! Meanwhile, she's got my two friends out shopping with her...buying designer jeans and the like. My girlfriend is the definition of low self-esteem. She's the type of person it's incredibly easy to manipulate and now she's beginning to think she needs expensive clothes to 'fit in.' She and her husband are not rich. I don't know how they'd keep up with that sort of hobby.

Fashionable and my name have NEVER used in the same sentence. :lmao: Before I lost all the weight a few years ago I lived in strechy clothes. Now that I am a healthy BMI, I try to dress better but the best for me is black pants and a shirt/sweater when I go to the store.

Probably not at all.. I don't wear make-up; don't care what the latest hairstyles are (short and easy works for me); don't care what the latest fashions are (comfortable works); don't care about expensive hand bags and/or shoes; etc., etc..

You get the drift..:rotfl:

I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I have always taken offense at the fashion trend words "mom jeans". Moms don't deserve this kind of labeling. We are great in whatever we are wearing. JMO

And there is the key to the kingdom. With some clothing trends there is a fine line between hot and meaty disaster. It is pretty obvious even to me when someone is trying too hard.

I wear what is comfortable and fits properly. Finding clothing in my size isn't always easy since apparently the fashion industry thinks everyone my height wears pants with the bigger number first. I just buy what I like and what fits properly and don't really care what other people think. I do dress for the occasion though and if I am in a professional setting dress more professionally.

I guess you could say so for me. While I love clothes, shopping and fashion (and tend to spend a lot of my money on fashion magazines) I don't always like what's in. My look I guess could be described as Classic/Girly and a little Preppy. My main thing is to look nice. I almost always wear make-up even if I'm just going to the grocery store. I hate sweats and never wear them (although I own 2 sweatshirts) as well as sneakers. I prefer to wear Ballet Flats or Moccassins. I also never wear skinny jeans, bootcuts are what I usually get. But I don't knack others for what they wear if they are comfortable wearing that let them be.

Well, I tend to dress a little bit more conservatively, maybe there is a word...nerd chic? Jeans, plain slacks if I have to, button down shirts, basic skirts, cardigans and argyle sweaters, pull overs with collars, some shirts with a design. I guess I tend not wear anything real adventerous or totally fashionable. It's just what I am comfortable with, which is kind of bad seeing how I am 23. I don't really lean to what the girls over here wear but my own nerdy style.

Pantyhose would be the kiss of death if you're trying to be fashionable as they are so not in!
