How far would you drive to see your hairstylist?

Yes, I would definitely go that far. My best friend owns the salon I used to work in and where I get my hair done. I would follow her. I don't trust my hair with just anyone. (when she built her salon, it was 30 minutes from her original place of employment and many clients followed)

I think you are likely to lose only the clients who are fickle anyways. Most people who really need to trust and have a relationship with their stylist will travel for it, IMHO.

(btw, I am a natural redhead, with color similar to yours and tons of thick hair. I need to really trust my stylist because I get nervous about matching my original color, now that I am <gasp>going grey)

Aww man gray stinks lol....yeah you have to trust your stylist with that,.Red is the only color that is hard to get to a natural red..You have to know what you are doing.I love color,it is my favorite thing to do.

I go 100ish miles, from Road Town, Tortola, BVI, UK to San Juan, PR, USA. It's never the sole purpose for the trip though, just something I get done while I'm there.

From Tortola to either Fajardo, PR or San Juan, PR via boat, and then the land part on car.

I can tell you a ton of stories about following stylists, but I'll stick to your question.

I was thrilled when my stylist was an easy 5 minute drive. He then opened his own salon and it's 30 minutes away. I love how he cuts my hair so I make the trip, but I do miss having him close by.

I'm not real particular, so I probably wouldn't go that far, but DD drives 30 minutes to somebody that she really likes.

I know somebody who drove (I guess still does) over 200 miles to have her cut (about every 2 months). The stylist used to live in our area but moved to Nashville, so she followed her there. I was amazed.

Up to and maybe more than 45 minutes...I LOVE my hairstylist and they are less expensive than most around here. She is actually around 20-25 minutes from me but I would drive further if I had to.

the way I found her is a friend of mine who is a singer gets her hair done for a lot of appearances and events and as soon as she got this one, said NEVER will she go elsewhere. I am so glad she told me about my stylist. She's the best and I also like the other stylist there. It's like a get together each time I am there.

We moved 2 years ago. I travel a minimum of 30 minutes to my hair stylist. It's been up to an hour, depending on traffic and how many railroad crossings and bridge openings I get stopped for.

When you find someone who can give you a good cut, you keep them.

For several years, I drove over 2 hours to see my stylist after I moved. I eventually moved a little closer and it was only a little over an hour away. After doing hair for about 20 years, she decided to change careers. I was heartbroken. I have not found anyone that does as good a job with my hair that she did.

I have had the same hairstylist for about 15 years (I was in middle school when I first started going to her, I'm 28). She was working in a department store salon when I first starting going to her. She and a few other people decided to open their own salon and they have only moved once since them. I drive about 15 minutes (on interstate and in city). If traffic is bad then it might be 20 minutes. DS and I are going to get our haircut next Tuesday. I do not trust anyone else. Some people CAN NOT cut hair straight. I would probably drive 45 minutes to an hour if I had to (maybe even longer).

I'd drive a long way for mine!! A long way! She's been doing my hair since middle school and I am almost 43!

My sister used to drive down from NJ for me to cut her hair! I have had a girl drive about 3/4 hours from NC. I think that was the longest drive on a regular basis (4-6 weeks). I have several clients who drive from Knoxville (about 30 or so).

I think sometimes we worry and think about it differently from the reality of it, OP. The reality is they will only be doing the drive every 3-8 in most cases--not a daily basis. So, I think most people are will to drive a little longer/farther than we think they are.

The guy that takes care of my hair has done it since I was 3 years old. I know that sounds odd, but it isn't. I love him and would drive an hour to have him take care of my hair.

WE drive "to town" which is about 20 min or so. I would drive further than that though. I have been with my stylist for years. I love her. She does a great job and knows my hair.

I drive about 45 minutes. It's worth it, she's wonderful and it's about the same total cost as going to one of the expensive places closer to home-even with the gas added in.

I've been driving 3.5 hours since September when we moved... I know, I know, I need to find someone closer, but I generally time the trips with other things I'm doing in the area at that time. Unfortunately I'm not going back until March 1st, and my hair needs to be cut now... I have a referral to someone here, but I'm terrified to try someone else!

I love my hair stylist - the only person that gets the color the way I like it. We moved to SC last March, when I went up to NJ in June, I got my hair done. I am so afraid to go somewhere else. When we went up in Dec. I actually got my hair done again!

So yes I would travel - I travel 12 hours!

Seeing as I use to drive 8 1/2 hrs every three months, I would have no problem with a half hour drive.

And getting a hair cut was not the only reason for the long drive. We just always came home every three months, so I just made sure to get my hair cut while we were home.

The best laugh I ever gave the hairdresser, was when I called her and asked if she had an opening for a couple of weeks later. She was looking it up and just talking away to me, when she stop and wanted to know just what I needed an appointment for, seeing as I was over 4000 miles away. I told her that as it had been 1 year, 2 months, and 18 days since my last hair cut, I was coming home to get it taken care of. Her reply was that in that case, she would need to block out 3 hours for me instead of the ususal 1 hr 1/2. We got to slamming on each other, that we both forgot that I was calling INTERNATIONAL and that the cost of call was going to kill me. Needless to say, when I got there for the appointment, we had even more laughs, as after a year+ with no hair cuts, with my bangs combed down, I looked like cousin It.

It makes me realize just HOW FAR out in the boondocks I live when this kind of question comes up. I used to go to a hairdresser here in town (15 minute drive... VERY close in my terms), but after a bad perm I jumped around for a while before I found someone I like last year. The fact that she is 12+ miles away (about 20 -25 minutes) is a BONUS! Espcially when you consider that my nearest chain grocery store is 30 minutes and nearest Walmart is closer to 40 minutes. I think NOTHING of the 20 minute drive for a haircut.
