How far would you drive to see your hairstylist?

I am a hairstylist and I am relocating to a different salon. It would take me about 17 mins to get there and for a lot of my clients abou 1 to 30 minutes.

Would you go that far?Do you think it is too far?

I'm sort of insane about my hair, so I would definitely drive the half hour. I've had the same stylist for about ten years, and she has moved around a lot in that time... Right now, I drive about 40 minutes to get to her.

My SIL is a stylist and started cutting hair out of her home salon. Some of her clients drive an hour now but she does a great job so they don't care. She does my hair and is 40 minutes away. If I didn't get the family rate, aka-free, I wouldn't drive that far.

I have had the same stylist for 8 years now. I moved 5 years ago and now live 40 minutes away. But for the last 5 years I make the trip every 6 weeks to see her. Sure, I could've found someone closer but she has always done a great job and we are friends now. I can't imagine going to someone else at this point.

When we moved I traveled 30 miles to go to my stylist but then she left that place and went somewhere farther away so I now go to someone else.

I would drive up to (and maybe more) an hour for my stylist! I love her....she does all of our heads, with the exception of the baby.

Funny story....a couple of yrs ago, someone told my twins they were cute. My son looked up and said, "Well, Miss abc cuts my hair!"

However, the guys are getting their hair cut at WDW this week.....OP, is that considered cheating on Miss abc?

I drive 2 1/2 hours. I tried a place here but didn't like it so I get my hair done every time I go back to WV.

I have very difficult hair (very curly and frizzy). The stylist I have had for the past five years recently changed salons to one that is about a 30 minute drive from here. I didn't even think twice about making the drive (but I am a SAHM with both kids in school full time, so time isn't much of an issue for me). Honestly, I would probably drive up to an hour to have my hair cut by her.

It's funny, I'd find a new Obgyn before I would drive more than 15 minutes to see him, but I have no issue with driving a decent amount for a good hairstylist.

Probably no more than 15 minutes.

it depends. I'd say 15 minutes, but that would be 15 "through town" minutes and not highway minutes.

But then again, I've always had super easy hair. When it was long, it was usually all one length. Or very long layers. So that was easy.

I recently got it ALL cut off...super short...and I went to a local "chain" type place and love the job they did, so I'll go back. It's hard to mess it up now either.

I don't know I've driven 45 mins highway time for a good nail salon I think if the person was good and I loved the way she did my hair and the price was right I think I would drive up to an hour..

Yes, I would definitely go that far. My best friend owns the salon I used to work in and where I get my hair done. I would follow her. I don't trust my hair with just anyone. (when she built her salon, it was 30 minutes from her original place of employment and many clients followed)

I think you are likely to lose only the clients who are fickle anyways. Most people who really need to trust and have a relationship with their stylist will travel for it, IMHO.

(btw, I am a natural redhead, with color similar to yours and tons of thick hair. I need to really trust my stylist because I get nervous about matching my original color, now that I am <gasp>going grey)
