How far would you drive for 1 day in the parks?

I have no problem drivng up to 3 hours each way for a day trip. We don't live that far, but I have driven that far for a day trip other places than WDW. I don't mind driving though and often take very long road trips.

We went down to Clearwater Beach mid August, forecast for Friday was rain all day long so we (myself, wife, 2 kids 12 & 9) decided to go up to Disney Springs to do the NBA Experience and some shopping, while there we heard the Halloween party wasn’t sold out (opening night) so got tickets to that as we have always wanted to go.

We left about 9:30 in the morning, arrived at about 11:00. Stayed until party end at midnight, was around 1:00 when we finally got to the car, and arrived back at the hotel just before 2:30am. Wasn’t a bad drive at all either way, would definitely do it again but I think it was probably close to the limit. Maybe 2 hours would be as far as I’d go.

We lived 90 minutes from Hershey Park and would drive there and back for a 1 day park visit about once a year. Although if you plan on closing the park, and let's say the park closes at 11PM or later, I would probably stay in a hotel. Getting home at 12:30AM? No than you.
