how far out do the dis hotels book out?

I am curious on prices, choices, etc for a trip in early May 2008. Although the Disney website allows me to put in the dates, it's telling me there is no availability at ANY of their hotels. Obviously it's gotta be because they aren't taking bookings yet. When do I need to wait until to start planning? Thanks!

We're in the same situation. I've been trying to book DLH for late May 2008 on the Disneyland website - like you, it accepts our dates and then states there is no availability.

I tried to do another search for availability/rates for their "Good Neighbor" hotels, and a different error message appeared. It said that stays must have a check in date of January 1st 2008 or earlier and that if later dates are required, you have to call them.

Guess what I'll be doing over the weekend then???

Hi tink, funny, I never got that message, just the one that says they don't have availability. I think it's weird you're allowed to put in those dates to begin with!!

I'm curious to hear what you find out if you call this weekend. Is it worth it to call, will they let you book out that far by phone, etc. Thanks for sharing. I'm mostly just interested in getting various rates as we're going with some friends and I wanted to price it out to see where everything fits in with what they might want to budget for the trip. Thanks!

Most hotels don't release rooms via online reservation systems until closer to the date - sometimes you can book up to a year ahead, and sometimes it's less than that (maybe 10 months or so). I worked as a travel agent for many years, and it's pretty common.

You would likely be able to book by calling the hotel directly, but might not get a rate that's much better than the standard rack rate - they may not have assigned different rates within categories this far ahead.

definitely call. I had the same problem several months ago trying to book this October. I called the hotel directly and secured my reservations.

I just called and was told no they were not accepting room only bookings for 08 as of this time. It's gonna be a while the Cast member said before they open bookings for 08.

Thanks for the info Lostgirlz - I haven't called DL yet because I'm waiting to get my flights from the UK sorted out first. Maybe I'll call next weekend and see what they tell me.

I have called a couple times now, and was told they have not even went through training for the new promotion, or whatever it is they will be doing for 08 like this year was year of a million dreams. I was told they don't know when they will have the training so as of now it maybe closer to end of july/ start of august before any prices, or bookings are able to be made. It's frustrating cause I have my airline booked already, so need the rest of the trip, and was told would have to wait a while longer. I can say that they said it will be towards the end of july though.
