How far is your commute?

Ummmm about 100 feet in my slippers.

;)

I work from home

My commute is 40 minutes in the morning but that’s because I drop of my boys to school and 20-30 minutes in the afternoon. I work about 16 miles away from where we live, DH works about 20 miles away from where we live. We moved in 2004 because we outgrew our old house, but now that we live in the country I could not imagine living anywhere ales.

I live about 32 miles from work....40 minutes plus a stop at 7-11 for coffee. :coffee:

I'm not currently working, but I'm a college student who commutes 150 miles daily. My school is about 65 miles from my home, and we have class roughly 40 hours a week (5 days). Not only is it hard on me, my poor car (and my gas budget) are hurting, too!

I despise commuting. It got old - really quick (I've been doing it for years). I swear, once I find a job, I will move near where I work (within 30 miles). I can't imagine working all day (12 hours), then driving home. Yuck!

I work 6 miles from home, piece of cake to get here. My dh works on the opposite side of town from where we live and he goes about 20 miles. Depending on the day and whether or not the locals all remembered how to drive, his commute is anywhere from 20-40 minutes.

I don't currently work, but DH has about a 10 or 15 mile commute to get on base and to his jobsite. It takes him about that long to get there. Some of the barrackes he'll be in charge of when they start the remodel will be further away on base. Maybe another 10 minutes or so.

Past commutes (we used to work together):
South Dakota - we lived about 6 blocks from the jobsite.

Carrollton, TX - About 4 miles. Took 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic.

Addison, TX - Across the apartment complex, then across a busy road. I drove because there were no cross walks and I would need my car for lunch or to run errands.

Irving, TX - 14 miles. 20 minutes with no traffic. During rush hour usually 45.

Burlington, IA - We just happened to buy a house that was 2 miles from DH's office. Most places in town were only a 10 or 15 minute drive anyway.

Not sure of the mileage, but it takes me 25 to 40 minutes depending on traffic.

My commute is 5 miles and my DHs commute is also 5 miles
My oldest DS who still lives at home is also only 5 miles.

I live about 60 miles from work. So, with the commute, door to door and combined driving, waiting and commuter train time, 4 hours round trip.

I drive what MapQuest claims is 65 miles each way. Some days it takes me 1.5 hours, some days 2.5 hours each way. You just never know. I drive at odd times - either leaving early or late - but, it doesn't matter. There is traffic all the time. It's either volume or back up from some accident usually caused by an idiot or other idiots staring over at the accident.

I enjoy my time in the car most of the time. I have my limits, but I don't mind sitting in my car for 2 hours each way. I'm alone. Nobody is bugging me. I don't have to listen to anyone or anything I don't want to. I don't have to smell anyone's BO or cheap perfume.

It's a great time to think, listen to music or talk radio, or sing at the top of my lungs. :thumbsup2

My commute from PA-NJ is about 54 miles each way into the sun every morning. Depending on the day, it could take 1 hour or and hour and 45 minutes. We moved out to PA so we could afford to build a house. Seems that everyone else from NJ/NY had the same idea so the traffic on Rt 78 is ridiculous.

Thankfully, DH and I work about a mile from each other so we drive in together most of the time.

My temp job is less then a mile away. DH is currently commuting 150 miles, one way :teeth: . We are moving when the school year is up and then his commute will be 14 miles.
