how far is the walk

From Residence In Maingate to DL? We are thinking there or Fairfield Inn, and just wondered if either is that much further than the other. Or if there is preference of one over the other.

FFI is right across the street. Much closer. 5 min to the gates. RI is...15? 20?

I just stayed at the motel 6 anaheim maingate which is just past the residence inn. from our room to DL entrance was about 15 min with us pushing a stroller. we did 3 days and walked to and from each day though our feet were definitly sore on the way back. fairfield inn is much closer. if the rates are similar then go with fairfield. If residence is cheaper then you have to decide how mu h the shorter walk is to you.

The Fairfield Inn is much closer! We stayed at residence Inn maingate about 8 years ago and we walked it every day. Not bad, but definitely not as close as Fairfield!! They are different classes of hotel also. RI is like an apartment and has breakfast included at teh main building, where FFI is a hotel and I don't know that they include breakfast. Check the ammenities of each hotel, take into consideration how close you want to be, check the price and then decide!! They are both nice!

Fairfield in is pretty close - no breakfast there though. We stayed at fairfield in December and it was clean, comfortable and close!

As PPs said, FFI is much closer than RI. But RI includes breakfast, has larger rooms, rooms have kitchens (which we only really use to reheat restaurant leftovers). So ... are those things important to you?
Btw, in the Marriott scheme, FFI is usually the 'value' brand, as opposed to Courtyard and Residence Inns are usually considered 'moderate' while Marriott branded hotels are deluxe and Renaissance/J.W.'s are luxury. Despite the fact that the Anaheim Fairfield Inn is a category 5, it still has the feel of a value hotel so if you want something a little nicer and not budget - go Residence Inn. (If we need more space we go RI and take cabs on the way home ...)

my family has stayed at the fairfield a couple of times. we really liked it! it's not anything fancy schmancy .. but it is clean and the walk after a long day at the park is manageable!

Thanks everyone.
After a day spent pricing different scenarios, we ended up deciding to go on DCL's Dream and then 3 days to WDW. My DH had hip surgery in Dec, and after some thought, we decided that DL would be a bit too much walking for him for a week straight. We still do want to go and are thinking of it for next year possibly.
