I don't use the pools much anymore on trips to
Disneyland. I do look around the places I stay and it seems to me (probably for insurance reasons) most of the pools at the non-disney hotels have taken their slides out. Most of the the pools are also fairly non descript rectangles in a patio area with limited seating. The HoJo is actaully my favorite place to stay off site. They have two pools. One of them just was remodeled. It doesn't have a slide but it has a kiddue pool and a turtle that squirts water. The other pool there is situated amongs some pine trees and is nice and quiet...well most of the time.
The Park Inn... not to be confused with the Best Western Park Place in or the Park View Inn... has a small pool on the third floor. You can see the Matterhorn and monorail from therer with an awesome view of the fireworks. It is usually a bit more money than the HoJo. The Best Western Park Place Inn is as close as you can get for walking to the parks unless you stay at Disney's Grand Californian hotel. It is even closer than the other two Disney Hotels.
The Candy Cane Inn is very pretty withh a good free breakfast, nice rooms and a pretty though small pool area. The walk to the parks is 7 minutes or so.
In general stay away from the Park View Inn and the Anaheim Plaza.
You might be able to get a standard room at the Desrt Inn and Suites for a good price. The pool area is small, indoors and loud!!!
I do not know what travel sites you are using but I usually check a few for price comparisons.
