How far is it from POR to OKW?

I like to jog in the early mornings, and thought that I would jog from POR to OKW to check in on Sunday morning. Does anyone know how far? Is it reasonable? Thanks :)

The All Ears website lists addresses for each resort on their Fact Sheet page for the resorts. POR's address is:

1251 Dixie Dr, Orlando, FL 32830

OKW's address is:

1510 North Cove Road, Orlando, FL 32830

The Google map says it is 1.2 miles from one to the other on Bonnet Creek Parkway and Disney Vacation Club Way.

Have fun!

Thank you. I'm not sure why I didn't think of that.

The problem is that there will not be a sidewalk or easy way to run, since the road is a very busy one and 4 lanes of traffic.

Holly, have you run at WDW before? dianeschlicht is correct about the busy roads and the lack of sidewalks. I have stayed at POR in the past and found running around the resort pleasant. I ventured out on the road once and almost got squished by a bus. I had to jump onto a grassy embankment on the side of the road. Even early in the morning, Disney employee car and bus traffic is surprising.

A couple of our more senior members of this board have mapped out walking paths from OKW, including a nice long one over to Downtown Disney (I believe is was CaskBill or Doc). These might do nicely for a morning run. As for the POR idea, I am not sure that there are any off-street ways of doing this. The boat from POR goes down the same river as the one to OKW, but I am not sure that you would be able to run along the riverbank safely.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to just jog over early and check in so hopefully my requests will be met. Waiting for the busses to start and then going from POR to TTC to OKW will take some time. I don't want to ruin my vacation by getting run over by a car, though. LOL

If your intent is an early check-in at OKW - the buses will start running about 7:30am- take one to Epcot and then grab a return bus over to OKW- that mighth have you at OKW by 8:00am.

If you intent is exercise, you can jog around the PO resort- there are nice roadways within the resort itself.

There is a "path" (it's actually a construction road- overgrown thru the marsh/woods) between POR and DVC Drive (formerly Community Drive)- but you'll still need to cross that busy highway with no bike lanes or sidewalks. Disney does frown upon such foot travel and security may even stop and have a safety discussion with you. (Ask me how I know ...) There is no path from POR to DD- only the boats ... and they won't start until late morning.

There is a great paved pathway from OKW to the SSR/DD area which is wonderful for early morning exercise, but I would not (from personal experience) recommend traveling on foot between POR and OKW. The "path" I mentioned is thru the woods and you may encounter a wide variety of wildlife (snakes, lizards- perhaps even a gator) in addition to the aforementioned security staff.

Enjoy!
