Just curious. My parents drive down to Florida each winter (lucky snowbirds!) and I am thinking about having them stop on the way at Hilton HEad. How far off of I95 is it? Mileage wise and time wise.

Has anyone does this and is it a good stopping place. (They are driving from CT)

Thanks!

I have yet to stop there on the way down to Florida, but I can't imagine it would be that bad. It would likely add about an hour onto you trip, although to get a chance to stay with Disney another night, an hour would seem to be well worth it ;)

Just did that same trip from Mass last week. Stopped at Hilton Head Island and stayed 2 nights on my way to WDW. Didin't stay at the DVC at HHI, but stayed in a very nice Holiday Inn on the beach. You can be checking inn within a half hour of exiting 95. Great place !!

We've stayed at Hilton Head several times. You will love it! Like cdorval said it's approximately 30 minutes from the time you get of I-95, about 20 or so miles. We always fork to the right once on the Island and it may be a little longer since you will hit lots of traffic lights, however, if you fork left there is a toll road you can take. I'm not sure if you will save anytime or not as we usually go the same way every time we go :D

I think it would be the perfect place to stop on their way down to WDW. From HHI it's about 5 hours to Orlando.

Thanks for the info. I will pass it on! I am hoping one year they stop and check it out!

I-95 it's 29 miles to Disney's HH resort.

From I-95 it's 20 miles to the bridge that crosses over the water to the island. From there another 9 miles to Disney.

The first 20 miles will be speed limits of 55, slowing as you get closer. Only about 3 traffic lights in this stretch.

After getting on the island, speed limits range from about 45 down to about 30. There's probably a half dozen traffic lights.

If you take the toll road, you avoid most of the lights, but then travel too far south, needing to turn back north again to get back to Disney, and hitting a few more traffic lights on the way. I think taking the toll road actually takes longer.

If there's normal traffic, it'll take about 45 minutes from when you exit I-95 till when you pull up in front of Disney's resort.

All this is if you're coming from the North. If you're coming from the South, there is a shortcut you can take, but the roads aren't that well marked.

Hope this helps.
