How far in advance do you plan your DL trips? My (adult) daughter and I want to go back for our "big birthdays", she'll be 25, I'll be ... older. :goodvibes

We are definitely planning things, but how far in advance to you actually start planning?

(I want to go back NOW!) :cool1:

It appears you have already started planning. :rolleyes1

I think about 5-6 months out you find the best hotel deals. You are usually planning a season ahead. If you wait until 3 months out the hotel prices go up because you aren't planning ahead, just for the coming season like everyone else.

lol, yes we are definitely already planning! I am excited......only 747 days to go! Heh.

Honestly, because we only live about four hours driving time, it is somewhere between 2 to 3 months. Disneyland usually more of an escape and less of a vacation like WDW. I love Disneyland. It feels like our home away from home.

Well, I'm already "planning" our WDW trip for our 25th anniversary in 2014! :goodvibes

I'm also always planning the next DLR trip before we even go on the upcoming one. Unfortunately, this is our year to let our APs lapse until summer 2012 so no mid year trips for us. (Ours expire after our July trip)

As far as booking the hotel, we usually do that about 4 months ahead. If I know we want to do something special like WOC dinner or Blue Bayou, I call at 60 days out. This trip we aren't planning anything big like that so will probably just make a PS for Cafe Orleans sometime before we go.

We just booked our vacation package for Dec 2011 a few days ago. It's never to early to start planning and planning is half the fun....

Well, I am usually already planning the next one when we leave for the current one. For example, I was already planning March 2012 when we left for our March 2011 trip. I've since added a Nov 2011 trip.

I book as soon as I find a good rate and tend to watch until a few months out to see if I can get a better rate. Actually, I need to call and cancel a reservation now that I think about it. We have a couple special meals this time, and always do one character meal and breakfast at Carnation, so I'll make those reservations at 60 days. I book flights/rental cars about 3-6 months out.

Because we like staying in the Villas, I start as soon as I get back looking for rental points and then make a spread sheet on what projected costs are and so on.

I'm already planning for our trip to mnsshp in 2012. I figure the more money I set aside and earlier I start the better:goodvibes

Rule of thumb...I start planning 2 years out. Mainly to watch trends for the timeframe(s) I plan on going. IE...hours, shows, parades, fireworks, hotel pricing trends, special offers, flight pricing trends, etc. About a year out I pick when I'm going based on my research. I call it being prepared...my friends and family call it OCD for Disney. :confused3
