How far in advance did your guests give you a definite RSVP. Also, how far ahead should we book room blocks? Thanks!
Hey-
You will fill out a room block worksheet before you sign your contract as the room block information is actually a part of the contract. At least this is how it worked for our custom. We filled out the room block information in April- I remember becuase we did while DH was at a job interview in Florida. We sat and ate Eintstein's Bagel for breakfast and did it... (
sigh... what I wouldn't give to be doing that again in this 17 degree before windchill weather!)
We sent out our invitations on August 29, 2005 for a December 29, 2005 wedding. We asked for the RSVPs back for October 29, 2005. Of course, we were still receiving some in early December despite phone calls and emails. We wanted to have ours back one month before we needed to make the final payment in full (November 29), so that we would have had time to make any necessary changes to come in at/under budget.
We were also moving on September 1st and I didn't want to be worried about all our calligraphed invitations getting lost or ruined in the move or transition. The moving company did a great job at destroying or losing some of our best furniture (that we're still paying for!) and other important items. I
know something would have happened to those invitations
It's a lot earlier than normal weddings, that's for sure! I had a few people on the Knot get snotty with me becuase they were out so early- when I explained we had to PAY at a month in advance, and therefore needed our numbers well before that- and accomodating for straglers- they backed off and reaized we were working on a totally different time schedule. You will be surprised how many people delay it. It was infuriating for us- it's a wedding over the holidays at Disney which requires a good deal of planning and preparation... How does one not know what they're plans are?!
