This is for an out of town wedding, what is the norm for sending out the inviation?

I would say at least 6-8 weeks out. I'm getting married October 2nd and my RSVP date is September 2nd. My invites would be out right now if the USPS didn't lose them and had to have my invite lady redo them. As soon as they get to me, they're going out and hopefully that won't be any later than August 2nd.

If its an out of town wedding, I would give a couple of extra weeks to give people time to make the arrangements.

I think it depends on how far out of town. If its still within a reasonable driving distance (6 hours or less) I would say six to eight weeks. If it involves domestic air travel I would say twelve to sixteen weeks. If it involves international travel, a minimum of six months.

I would have done a save-the-date at least six-eight months in advance if it requires travel and airplanes and getting time off of work.

Then, I'd send invites out two months in advance so that it would give me plenty of time to hunt down those who don't RSVP.
