How far in advance to book?

This is my first post in these threads--my first official day here as well, though I have stalked these boards for years...

I am trying to find accurate information as to when I may be able to book rooms and packages for my December 2014 trip. I need to make sure that I have my deposits ready. I am booking 4-5 rooms with about 9 adults and 5 children. I was handed this (somewhat gleefully) because I have become slightly obsessed with everything Disney!!! Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

We have booked a year out. Not sure how far in advance they will let you book. I would give it a try online and as time goes by, keep an eye on deals, either deep discounted rooms or the free dining plan. We travel with 13 people, 5 are children ages 6-14 and we like to get the free dining plan. When these plans are offered, we just call the reservation line and talk to a cast member. Good luck and part of the fun going to Disney is the planning and making dinner reservations. I can't wait until August for our trip, only 309 days to go.

I would start watching online around August 2013. I think August is about when they usually announce the next year's rates.

Welcome to the DIS! If you book online you can book 499 days in advance. I would imagine it is the same amount of time if you book by phone, but I don't know for sure.
